to be fair, perry has an amazing cap hit and is signed for another 2 years. 50 goal scorer with 100+ PIM at 5M is a steal of a contract. you probably could have gotten more but goalies and cap space are pretty important in this league so i understand why you did it. the only problem is, you arent guarenteed a franchise goalie since both of the guys you could draft are behind established starters (unless i am completely missing the ball on who you're going to draft)

I thought 5mil was a good hit too, until a number of GMs said they couldn't fit him in. But yes, I am taking a risk on the goalie end, I fully admit. But I wasn't going anywhere w/ the goalies I had anyway, so worse case it's a push.

Emery (whom I just traded to Gates) i don't trust long term on any team he should happen to fall to. I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone, but in my opinion I would not have wasted any pick on him in a dynasty league. Leighton....well ideally he gets moved and becomes a starter but.... So that's what I was lookin at.

Believe me I have no delusions about my team, but I'm banking on a sound prospect draft that I have full control over and now have 6 picks in the first three rounds to get my team some high end talent it needs.

I'm taking a gamble on Emery in hopes of 1) he becomes a cheap starter for any given team (even if short term) or at the very least 2) stays in the NHL as a back up and spots starts opposite to Kipper (my starter).

The main motive behind this deal : it allows me to solidify my choice for #2 overall in the prospect draft.

Sometimes you have to roll the dice, and I'm not a big fan of Emery either, but do think he's capable of putting up good enough numbers if given the chance.

I get it. If I had Kipper I might gamble on Emery too.

My only regret is that trade I made w/DY giving up McBain. I'd like to have that one back, or re-do at least.
