Defensive points in my pool are as follows:
goal = 2 assist = 1 +/- = 1 PIM = 0.5 Points are highly valued, but overall value is greatly impacted by the defenseman\'s ability to mix it up physically while still playing smart, responsible hockey (playing on a responsible team helps too). Who do you think will be the biggest surprises or improved defensemen for next season factored into this scoring system? Post edited by: andrewklassen, at: 2007/05/31 16:30

If I didn\'t own them already, I\'d be going after Keith Ballard and M-A Bergeron. Ballard will recover from his off-year - he\'s got too much character and talent not to, and his price is as low as it\'ll ever be - and MAB is just coming into his own in Long Island.
I expect to see the two combine for 100+ points next season. Post edited by: Thieving Giraffe, at: 2007/05/31 18:20

Consider:
Souray UFA, depending on where he ends up could be monstrous in that scoring format. 64 pts, -28, 135 pen mins. Plus minus is team dependant, watch where he goes, if he stays with MTL, expect a little better +/- Chara BOS, 43 pts -21, 100 pen mins. BOS should be better next year. Pitkanen PHI, 43 pts, -25, 88 pen mins. PHI will be better as well next year. I hate plus minus, can\'t predict from one year to the next.

Thanks. MAB was on my radar after his good run in Long Island. Chara was also someone I was watching b/c he is often a better +/-, but is usually gold for some points coupled with good penalty minutes.
What about K. Bieksa? Post edited by: andrewklassen, at: 2007/06/01 11:07

Shea Weber is also an option. Scored 17 goals this year 23 assists, likes to mix it up with 60 penalty minutes and will log huge powerplay time this year.
