here is how the scoring system works
Goal 4 fpts Assist 4 fpts GWG 2 fpts PPG 2 fpts PPA 1 fpts +/- 1 fpt or -1 Hat Trick 3 fpts SH Pts 3 fpts Penalty SHot Goals 2 fpts Goalie Win 7 fpts Shoutouts 5 fpts Saves 0,25 fpts Shoot Out wins 4 Fpts instead of the 7 Loss -2,5 fpts Shoot out lost 0 instead of -2,5 regular season lost OT lost is -1 fpts Goal Against - 1 fpts Goalie Assists 7 fpts Goalie Goals 10 fpts Shoot out saves 0,25 fpts Lundqvist as average more fantasy pts in our league system in the past 3 years then Ovechkin.. maybe a 25 fpts difference.. my opinion is that an elite goalie is alot harder to find then picking up a 75 to 80 points player!... we run with fowards position and not the standard C, LW & RW system |

You should start a new thread for this topic. It depends, IMO. If it is a new 14-team fantasy keeper league... I think Lundqvist should be considered at the #7 pick, no sooner. (Though it depends. If there are a ton of skaters, say 12F/6D/2G, then I want the goalie, because skaters get watered down. If there is a more shallow skater group, say 6F/4D... then I'm definitely taking a skater.) My top 7 would be: 1. Crosby 2. Stamkos 3. Malkin 4. Ovechkin 5. Tavares 6. Giroux 7. Lundqvist ... ... There is a drop-off here, in my opinion. Forward production is way more consistent than goalie production. I love Lundqvist, but you can also get a very good goalie in the 2nd round. (Likely Bryz/Miller/Quick/Price/Rinne/Rask... one of those guys is there) So, the question is, what's a better duo: i) Lundqvist + C.Perry/Getzlaf/E.Staal type of player, or ii) Giroux/Tavares/Ovechkin + (goalies above) In most pools, though, I'm taking one of those 6 skaters before Lundqvist. [NOTE: If you start a new thread, I'll move this post over there... so I don't clutter up the top 10 goalie thread] |

As Penguin's list indicates, I think my biggest disagreement with the OP's list is Rask's placement. No way I'm putting Fleury, Schneider, Luongo et al. ahead of him in your league.

I'm most surprised by Halak at #4. With saves as a cat, total starts will be critical to a goalie's value, and with Halak's competition, I don't think he will have the starts necessary to be elite even if he winds up wrestling the number one spot completely into his own hands later in the season. Also, no one's mentioned Smith yet. I think he'll be close to top 10 if not in it: 300 more saves than Lundqvist and the same save percentage last year. Sure, I think he won't match his numbers from last year, but he was the #1 goalie by a decent amount last year in this format. Even if we drop him from 38 wins to 34 and sv% from.93 to .92, and saves by 100, he would still have been in the top five.
