Default Winners and losers...

Obviously there\'s been a lot of talk about the players who signed with or were traded to new teams. Here are some quick thoughts on a couple of players who weren\'t traded, but nevertheless had the landscape change dramatically. Five up, and five down.

Winners:

Sakic (COL): Smyth promises to be the linemate capable of helping Super Joe hit the 100 point mark again.

Sundin (TOR): A winger? For me? It\'s about time!

Budaj (COL): Hannan blocks the shot! The puck trickles up to Smyth... who scores the game winning goal. Another win for Colorado!

Gagne (PHI): Put me i-in coach! I\'m ready to play... today!

Biron (PHI): Put him i-in coach! I get to win this year!

LOSERS:

DiPietro (NYI): Fourteen years must feel like a looooong time right now...

Brodeur (NJD): Just off the top of my head... does that make Paul Martin their #1 defenseman now?

Miller (BUF): But... who\'s going to do all the scoring for me?

Tarnstrom (EDM): Pitkanen? So what did you sign me for then???

Nylander (x-NYR): Wherefore art thou, my Jaromir? Unless... Alexander who? Sign me up, McPhee!

Sock - I feel your pain.
As a Sabre fan I knew Drury and Briere were gone but I had some small hope that the Sabres would draft Hannan and Stuart. With a tough D we could have managed to get by but Hannan has already signed and I don\'t see even a hint of a rumor with Stuart in it.

How about a small win for B. Richards...Michel Ouellet.
The 2 of them played together in Jr.
A set-up man just got a goal scorer.

So Nylander is the guy that Edmonton has been longing to put with Hemsky? Smith and Lupul for Pitkanen? I hope he is the guy that they think he can be. Lupul is going to like Philadelphia.

Hemsky and Nylander will pass the puck back and forth the whole game, each thinking the other guy is going to shoot....LOL

I really like what Calgary has done. I am assuming that Nolan is replacing Amonte on the 3rd line. Nolan is a bigger body and is a couple years younger. Nolan will be an improvement over Amonte, if that is the Flames thought process.
