lol...well, dietitians refer to beer as "liquid french fries". There is a common misconception, however, thanks in large to marketing that light and ultra light beers are less apt to pack on the poundage due to lower caloric intake.

This is very misleading. While it is technically true that less calories = less weight gain, the difference in calories between ultra light and regular beer is insignificant from a dietary perspective. Hell, you can burn 90 calories walking to the shitter, assuming it's on the second story.

The significant weight gain attributed to beer drinking is actually due to the way in which the beer is metabolized.

Your liver produces enzymes the metabolize beer (any alcohol, really). Because your body cannot store alcohol it must focus energy on metabolizing it before anything else. Therefore the calories in the beer are immediately stored, while the body focuses on ridding itself of the alcohol.

Additionally, let say you are 4,5,6 beers deep not only did you just ingest and store 360-540 calories from the beer alone...now ya got the munchies, and decide to consume one large cheese and pepperoni pizza and a bag of Doritos.
All those additional food/beer munchies calories are immediately stored as fat.

Repeat daily, and...

That's why the weight gain. Switching to Uultra light beers does not change this process.

I keep forgetting to ask the guys at my favorite liquor store if they can get those Rochefort beers. I'm still I stout and porter man first, but I'm really getting into the Abbey style ales. Since I'm most partial to tripels out of the three styles I'll 8 at the top of my list.

Sweet, so drinking light beer is only valuable from a 'don't get tanked as fast' perspective. Sadly I can see myself mis-using this data... like this:

So far I've tried delirium and st Bernardus.

Let me start by saying a) there's a very attractive woman serving me. And b) st Bernardus is awesome beer.

Delirium is also quite good

Man... so hungover. That MKT place is pretty cool though.

I mistyped/spelled a bunch of the beers above terribly.

I think I tried about 7 different beers last night and can now proudly say I've tried over half of the 120 beers available at MKT.

Well done man.

I don't know what it is with this week, but I have another scare right now that I have to try to figure out. Basically the government thinks i didn't tell them everything back in 2010 about my taxes and say I owe like 10K plus. So needless to say, I'm freaking out as I don't have that kind of money and don't make enough at all to pay for that.

So back to the bottle I go, here's to praying my accountant and I figure out what happened and I don't have to pay for this. If not, I'll be drinking a lot of Pale ale at my parents to watch the draft.
