i just dropped santiago.... he held the job longer than i thought he would, but even if sale does not stick, they are going to give the laundry list a shot first.

My real question is; why not move sale to the 5th rotation spot to give him more time off to help with work load issues. this is a really strong bullpen. thorton, reed and crain all could close, and the other 2 make great 7th and 8th innings guys. santiago would not scare me if i had a 2 run lead on any night in those roles either (his only issue is the long ball, otherwise he has been fairly good). the rest of that pen is not too bad either... why whould you take sale out of the rotation completely when he is their best starter. on a lot of teams this moves makes sense (like bard to closer) since their pens are not as good, but this is really one of the top 5 pens in he league without sale.

Thornton has been going back and forth for this job. They've always wanted to get Sale to pull this off and hasn't done it, yet. If he can hack it, he'll be one of the better closers to own by a long shot.

Such an odd move. Only thing I can think of is they really hate his delivery and fear future TJ surgery. Or they're just trying to limit his innings?

That seems to be the idea, but Sale said he wants to be in the rotation and the pitching coach agrees with him. I'm now fully on board that Addison Reed will be the guy, he's going to snatch that job away from anyone in the 'pen.

That team is so hard to predict the closer, it changes day to day. Best to just stay away from ChiSox all together when it comes to closer imo.

Sale now back in the rotation...

Will Carroll
Get this: Chris Sale will make a start tomorrow. He's back in the rotation. Sounds like a Williams decision.

Reed poised to take over.
