I'm still quite high on him. He is the perfect buy-low candidate right now, imo. I wouldn't necessarily expect him to explode offensively this coming season because for whatever reason the coach doesn't seem to love him and prefers to play the grinders, but the upside and potential are still there; we just have to be a bit more patient that we hoped after his phenomenal second season.

So one off year and at 21 he gets considered a bust??? It would be foolish to give up on him already.

In the OPs defense he didnt say he was a bust. He asked if "he was slowly moving into bust territory". Imo books its a fair question. There are warning signs with Duchene and it definitely makes next season exponentially more important in terms of how he will be valued. Id actually say he is slowly moving into bust territory in that one more consecutive mediocre or disappointing season will really affect his percieved value harshly in pools and the nhl.

That being said I am looking for a strong rebound and a healthy star calliber career.

I think that regardless right now is a sell low time for him. That being said, he almost certainly will not be the better fantasy player between him and JT as some may have thought after he got off to a much better start as a rookie.

Matt Duchene will be a damn good player some day but man, as an owner in one league, I cringed the day I saw Sacco re-signed. The two are a terrible fit (see Ovi-Hunter)

I'm actually thinking that Duchesne would be better at wing and that Stastny would be a great linemate for him. Duchesne has said himself that he plays the game more like a winger than a center. He did pretty well during the games that he was a wing this season I believe. That would also allow them to keep Stastny.

Plus it's never a bad thing to have a guy on the wing with experience taking faceoffs. He's been over 50% the last two years. Those linesmen love throwing guys out of the draw...

I concur that Duchene is a better winger than centre...I always thought he'd be converted at the NHL level to a full-time winger.
