Default Hanley/Hamilton for Halladay and prospects

its a keep 11+2 prospects league.

I have no choice but to consider Hanley the #2 SS.
Not a huge Hamilton fan, but his production is undeniable. Every year there seems to be a time when Hamilton is a buy-low, and i've made some offers in the past, but this is far closer to happening than any in the past.

I give up a SS replacement (Aybar), my top pitcher Halladay, and both Harper & Trout (who he'll be able to keep as prospects again next year).

I'd go from having the #2 pitching staff in the league to maybe #4. My OF (start 5) is WEAK right now, waiting on Harper and Trout to come up, and only Carlos Gonzalez of worth (others: Tabata, Fowler, Revere, Pagan, Rios, Cespedes).

Short term: Moves me from a potential rebuild year to playoff team. My OF needs a bat, and SS was my biggest hole going into the re-draft, but got Aybar for pretty cheap. No longer wasting 2 of my 5 bench spots on players in the minors, but they'll both be up this year.

Long term: I don't trust Hamilton long term, but bigger than that is the loss of the best 2 hitting prospects in baseball. I can find prospect keepers on the waiver later, but not comparable.

Thoughts? I know you should always take proven over prospect, but Harper and Trout! Im really interested in seeing what you guys think Harper/Trouts will do in the next couple years.

This really depends on how deep your league is. If you're in a shallow league wouldn't mind this trade as much, but as it stands think you're giving up quite a bit, especially if both Harper and Trout don't burn a roster spot.

If this is the case and you are in a shallower league, the trade becomes Hanley/Hamilton for Halladay/his pickup off the wire/Harper/Trout.

I myself would want more guaranteed production for that package you have to give up.

10 team league, 5 OF + 2 Util, 5 bench. Harper/Trout are using up bench spots.

If I don't make the move, I don't know if Im a playoff team but in the longrun I'll become a favourite. If I make the move, im a playoff team immediately. Should build for a championship not a playoff spot, which means I shouldn't take it, but damn i hate missing fantasy playoffs.

Fantasy baseball is so much tougher for me than hockey!

I'd do the deal. Here's why: Harper and Trout will both be up to the majors this year, but there's no guarantee they'll be productive options for you at any point in 2012. Harper's still in Double-A and Trout has a ton of competition for playing time in the Angels outfield once he arrives in the big leagues. Make the move if you think it turns you from a rebuilding team to one that can contend in the playoffs. You'll be adding two proven assets in Han-Ram and Hamilton. Both have a few question marks, but they are proven assets who can really help your team when they are healthy. You are addressing needs with this trade and putting your team in contention. Go for it.

I would rather have Halladay and those elite prospects myself. I think Hanley is good, but he won't be as good as he used to be.
