20 Team Dynasty, 5x5. Ended up in third last year, and have made a couple moves over the past few days, for better or for worse, who knows. However one offer I'm thinking of offering is the following:

My Hanley Ramirez/Jorge De La Rosa for Bryce Harper & Dan Haren

I currently also have Starlin Castro who I can place at ss. As each day goes by, I become increasingly cautious that Hanley becomes an elite player again. I have a need for an extra outfielder, and could use a stable pitcher. Thoughts? Am I crazy to even contemplate offering this to the other owner? Again, I'm waiting for my one on one offers to get rejected (Hanley for Justin Upton, Miguel Cabrera) before I even think about offering this. But is it as bad as I think it could end up being considering I'm in contention this year?

if i had haren and harper, i would reject your offer. so no, you aren't crazy to contemplate making that move.

I guess I should explain that his team is not necessarily going through a rebuild and will trade Harper for a piece he mentioned. Three new teams came into our league and a disperal draft was done, so he has a relatively older lineup.

the key for me is haren vs d l rosa. you are killing this side of the deal to such an extent, i think you have successfully insulated your team from the shock of losing hram.

i think this will be the last season hram qualifies at ss. i see him as a large risk going forward, both in health and attitude. there are several red flags; his new ballpark, his shrinking ISO, his increasing girth - i don't think he ever again approaches 40 steals.

i assume you are targeting harper because you see a worthwhile gamble. he could end up as good as advertised. at the end of may, 2011, we were talking about his #'s and comparing them with the all-time great season's by a teenager. this could be your last chance to acquire him in a keeper, at a reasonable cost.

sure the deal could blow up in your face. i still think it would have been a solid, and entirely justifiable move .

Oh I agree about HanRam (have said it for the past couple years), and trying to sell as high as possible. I was thinking that this is pretty one sided as well, but couldn't tell whether it be "insulting", but guess I know now :P

I've attempted to trade for Justin Upton and Miguel Cabrera straight up seeing as I could use an upgrade at both OF and 1B. Both declined saying they'd just rather have the consistency but thought it was a fair offer. Seeing that most people value offense, and other manager has said he'd trade Harper if it helps improve his team, figured it wasn't a far stretch. Perhaps I'll have to tweak the offer a bit. As for Harper, we all know the hype and yes, saw it as possibly a 20 homer season with Cameron retiring.
