I need to clear a roster spot on my minor league team. Which of these three have the best chance of making a major league roster:
- Brett Wallace, TOR - Pedro Alvarez, PIT - Stephen Strasburg, WAS (I'm taking Strasburg with the #1 pick in the minor league draft) Which one, or more, would you promote? Thanks!!! |

- alvarez is going to start the year at double-A, as the team wants him to make improvements with the glove as well as with the bat (striking out a LOT)
- wallace is currently blocked by overbay, who the jays tried to trade earlier this offseason without any luck. wallace will get more time at triple-A, but he wont need much. a mid-season overbay trade would be ideal - the nats will want to ease strasburg along, but im not they can hold him down in the minors longer than a few months. if youre asking who's likely to make the team right out of spring training, im not confident any do. but barring an overbay trade this spring, strasburg will likely be the earliest to get the call |

If Strasburg dominates in Spring Training, he's the one I see most likely getting the call, but as Snyder said, all 3 will probably start their season with their minor affiliate.

What about Michael Bowden in the Boston Organization?

Bowden may be used in middle relief, but more than likely will see more time in AAA. No need to bring Bowden up, and would probably be better off with a trade, specifically to the NL, as he's a flyball pitcher.

Definitely do not recommend Bowden unless you are in a veeeeeery deep prospect keeper league. His star has fallen fairly far after his year last year.
