Default I have a question....

I see Shanny suspending all these players ....or in same cases, lack thereof.

Who suspends him for being a weak S.O.B? He needs to lay down law on Torres hit, obviously he already botched the Weber play, which is why we're seeing a lot of of this junk happen.

You can't possibly be inferring that if he suspended Weber for headslamming that Torres wouldn't have done his stupid act. Torres was the first player suspended after that huge Matt Cooke suspension last season. He would care less about what happened to Shea Weber. If Torres was seen doing what Weber did and was called, then yes, it would have possibly been prevented. This was a classic idiotic Torres hit, and would've been done if Weber wasn't given anything, or suspended for 7.

My guess? Torres gets 10 games.

No of course, I am just saying I bet Shanahan goes soft on this as well. Guys can get away with stuff and probably get the feeling the suspension will be soft or not harsh, if at all. In Torres, case he's just an a$$ho*le so it does not really apply to him anyway. He does not have the smarts to know right from wrong. The sad thing is someone , somewhere is proud of him being in the NHL. Thats the sad part of it all. Nothing about him anyone should be proud of.

Torres is the prime guy to make an example of. If Shaw got 3, Torres might not even see the 2nd round. It'll be a big one.

the nhl obviously isn't that concerned about getting this kind of stuff out of the game because it keeps happening over and over again and nothing gets done about it.... nothing new is tried... the cycle just repeats. as for weber, there is most certainly a tiered system in place... stars get off easy. money talks. welcome to the modern world.

I think he started off laying down the law back in Sept/Oct, and GMs took issue with him being so punitive on their star players. Consequently, he acquiesced to their demands.

But then along came a Lucic, and Shanaban was caught in quite the conundrum so he did nothing lest he further peeve the GMs. Or so he thought....

At the subsequent GM meeting, he was literally blasted by the GMs for his inaction. Hence, the Tootoo suspension (even though the Lucic hit was far more egregious).

So what is gradually setting up seems to be a policy where hitting a goalie = bad (now anyway)

Whereas skater-on-skater violence and subsequent punitive measure is determined by status first, intent second, injury third.
