Alright guys, below is my current matchup standings. I am the team on top. I will lose the 4 of 4 goalie categories, so currently we are tied 4-4, and I hold the tie breaker. However, I really want to try and win at least 5 of the skater categories to make things certain.
![]() This is my currently set lineup. What I am unsure of is if I should focus all on offense (start Read/Purcell over Rinaldo), focus all on PIM (start Dorsett over someone), or split the difference and use something like what I currently have (although could use Dorsett over Rinaldo, and have Read/Purcell in for someone else). ![]() What is your thinkings and how would you strategize this (are there guaranteed PIM worth going after here, bother trying to hold onto +/-, etc)? Thanks and all the best to you on this final day! Last edited by letnry; 04-07-2012 at 01:35 PM. |

Go after assists with your best offensive players and that will also see that you hold onto +/- as well. PIMs are not predictable. Also, check your opponents lineup and see if they are maybe going after PIMs which would provide you even more evidence to go after assists instead since you only need one category.

yep go after the assists. Berglund for sure and man its a toss-up with Read/ Purcell. I'd probably plug in Purcell but have no real basis for picking him.

I'd go with Purcell over Berglund I think...
Berglund has 3 points (all 3 goals) in the last 10 games... so he's not really a help on the assist front. Same span for Purcell. He has 6 points (1 G 5A) in last 10 games... so he's a bit better help on the assist front. 10 points (2G and 8 A) and in 12 games vs Jets as well... Keep Rinaldo as well, Pens and Flyers looks like it's gonna be a dirty match with teams looking to establish an upper edge over the other for their 1st round matchup... I could see Rinaldo in a fight the first 2 minutes just to get it over and done with and just play hockey...

For sure, sorry!
So after much thought, I pulled Rinaldo and put Purcell in. Of course, early in the Philly game Rinaldo gets a boarding and game, so I start kicking myself. At that point I still have time to plug in Dorsett for Berglund, but decide I am going to stick with the plan and leave Dorsett on the bench. Well, in his game against the Isles he gets an assist and has 2 fights. Of course Berglund does nothing, and Purcell scores a hat trick, not doing me much good (because I am winning goals handily) and getting my opponent assists for his St. Louis and Lecavalier!! Anyway, long story short, we both finished the day with 7 assists and 12 PIM, leaving those categories tied. I was able to separate myself in +/- (11-0) and hold the win there. So the day ended just like it started with a 4-4 tie, and me winning the tie breaker. It certainly wasn't pretty, and caused me a little added stress, but got the job done!! Thanks again everyone for your input! |
