Rank My Keepers?
I have a somewhat difficult decision ahead of me in my keeper league. Each year we're adding two more keepers than the last--this off-season we keep 4. When we keep a player, we essentially re-draft them at the same draft round, so whether you are keeping from the 2nd round or the 15th round makes a pretty big difference.
I have 10 players that I think there is at least a case for keeping. I'll try to rank them below from best to worst (draft round in parentheses). What do you guys think? A lot of these decisions hang on information we don't have (Schneider's fate, Hartnell playing with Giroux, Parenteau playing with Tavares, etc.), which makes it tough. Standard Yahoo scoring categories, 2 C, 2 LW, 2 RW, 1 Util, 4 D, 2 G.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (14)
Carey Price (10)
Taylor Hall (9)
Cory Schneider (13)
Tuukka Rask (8)
Evander Kane (14)
Scott Hartnell (7)
Blake Wheeler (17)
P. A. Parenteau (17)
Teddy Purcell (17)
Roto Keep 4 (sacrifice draft pick from previous year to keep a player, draft round listed in parentheses, * = kept from previous year, 2 keepers last year), G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG; W, GAA, SV%, SO.
C: E. Staal (3), Nugent-Hopkins (14), Pavelski (C/RW, 5)
LW: Parise (2), Hall (9)*, Hartnell (7), E. Kane (14)
RW: Pavelski (C/RW, 5), Parenteau (17), Purcell (17), Wheeler (17)
D: Chara (5), Boyle (7)
G: Price (10)*, Rask (8), Schneider (13), Miller (1), Luongo (1)
Looks like the lower the round the better the pick.
- it also depends where schneider ends up - if he goes somewhere favorable then I would switch him with Kane or Wheeler
- may also look at Purcell (17) -
- you know you will you get good players in the first in the first 5 rounds
- you have to decide if your players will still be there the same round as last year and/or keep any of your favorite players.
