Default Rinne +/- Suter/Weber

So right now Rinne is a top-3 fantasy goalie.

What would the effects be on Rinne if Nashville loses Suter or Weber. How would you rank Rinne with or without Suter or Weber.

Right now, Dobber has it as follows...
Lundqvist
MAF
RINNE
Quick
Howard

Kipper
Luongo
Bryzgalov
Price
Schneider

I would still have Rinne in the top 3 without either one of those guys.

No chance. Suter/Weber play MONSTER minutes and their defense is night and day different without them. The good news for Rinne owners is the team is committed to defense and they have guys like Ellis/Josi/Blum on the verge of becoming full-timers. It might be a rocky transition, but Rinne's numbers will suffer a bit. I do think they can get by as long as one of them resign though.

IMO...I think NSH gets one, if not both signed. Poile has made great moves to show these guys he's after championships, not playoff bids. He also has the green light from management to spend to the cap.

Sorry but I have to disagree, unless they sign someone top level to replace them.

Losing a defenseman has a HUGE impact.
It's not just the quality of the player.

Goalies adapt to their defensemen.
*Peaking around their legs.
*What shots a defenseman keeps from happening... or allows?

It takes a while.

Normally, a goalie changes places... you'll see the stats go down.
*Halak in STL for his first year, stats down
*Bryz in PHI to start this year, stats down
*Vokoun in WAS to start this year, stats down

Bring in a new key defenseman, again... you'll see the stats go down.
*Ehrhoff in BUF this year, stats down for Miller
*P.Martin & Z in PIT last year, stats down for Fleury

Now... consider all of those goalies RIGHT NOW.
They've made the adjustments... it's getting better for all of them.

Goalie adjustments take a while.
Rinne is a top 3 goalie... but if either Suter/Weber leave, you'll definitely see the impact for at least the first 1/2 to first 2/3rds of next season.
