What will they hit next year and who has the better upside

Any number projections I would have would be utter guesses.. oel first, either he has over taken yandle or one is trade bait...

Faulk will be steady, and good... but more of what you would say close but not elite..

Smith is the wildcard.. I think he will be good, but with more hits and pims, and a chance to be the guy in det...

So to me .. oel.. smith.. faulk.... but in certain leagues I think smith could be better.

I hope fung gets in on this one, he knows his d.

I'd rank them as follows.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson: Continues to progress each year of his career, at times he looks like a fourth forward on the ice. He's going to come close to 35 points this year, but I view him with an upside of 60-70 points. I always liked him a lot and he should probably have more points than he does this season, he always looks good every time I watch a Coyotes game.

Brendan Smith: I'm still a huge fan and I think being ranked just below OEL says a lot about how good he might be. Smith is still one of the best D prospects out there and he'll have every opportunity to produce in Detroit. I view him as a better all around D than OEL, but not better offensively. Where Smith has the advantage is in other categories, he'll provide hits and penalty minutes, which OEL won't. I'd say his upside is 60-65 points, with lots of hits and PIM to go with that. Which would mean he could potentially be more valuable than OEL.

Justin Faulk: Faulk is someone I've been keeping an eye on and I've had a chance to watch him a few times this season. Needless to say, I was very impressed with the way he handles himself out there. He knows when to jump into the play and he's a very good power play quarterback as well. With that said, he's also in competition with another very good young rearguard, Jamie McBain. McBain's play has been pretty inconsistent this season, but he's looked much better of late and the points are starting to come. Its not just McBain he has to worry about, Carolina also has Ryan Murphy in the system. I think Faulk projects 50-55 point dman, with a possibility for 60 points in his prime.

Next year I expect OEL to get 40 points, Smith to get 35 and Faulk to get 40.

OEL is settling into more of a defensive role and has been playing most of the year against the other teams top lines. This will make it very hard for him to reach 50+ points, he is a stud for sure though.

Smith will have the best chance at taking over the back end in Detroit but they have shown time and time again that they would prefer to give big minutes to experienced players over youth so while he may have big upside do not expect to see it for 4-5 years.

Faulk has little compatition in Carolina so look for him to make a quicker splash than Smith as he will get primo pp time next season.

Those are good responses, I should have put that im only concerned with pts but I don't think it changes that much.....so the feeling that im getting is oel comes first closely followed by smith and then faulk.

I wonder where Elliot, Gardiner, and Murphy would rank if I threw their hats in the rink

OEL is miles ahead of the other two right now in my view.

Just as a note, OEL has 132 hits and 83 blocked shots in 75 games this year. Smith has 17 and 8 in 14 games. Smith definitely has the advantage in PIM, but OEL is a pretty physical player himself, just a little smarter about it and avoids the penalties.

As blaze stated OEL is miles ahead of the other 2 in every aspect of the game. he is the clear number 1 choice of the 3 in any format. Faulk is the second best offensive player of the 3. With Smith being probably the better all around player then Faulk.
