STUDS

Sizzling Spezza
Jason Spezza is on fire. After coming off a four-point game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Senators centre had three assists in last night's 6-2 victory over the Florida Panthers. Spezza sits in second league wide with 63 points, trailing only Evgeni Malkin. That's right, ahead of Claude Giroux, Steven Stamkos and others. Spezza will need to keep producing if the Senators want to make the playoffs this year.

Amazing Anderson
Craig Anderson turned aside 42 of 44 Panthers shots and could be in for one of his patented hot streaks. Anderson shut out the Lightning on Tuesday night as well and he'll look to continue his string of good starts when the Sens visit the New York Islanders on Monday.

Enormous Eberle
Jordan Eberle has a knack for scoring big goals and he did just that against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Eberle won a battle for the puck and snapped a wrist shot top corner to send the game to overtime. The Oilers lost the game, but Eberle was once again one of the best players on the ice. The Edmonton winger has over a point per game, with 54 in 51 this season.

Agitating Aulie
Keith Aulie played 26 shifts, was a plus-2, had an assist and 3 hits in the Leafs win over the Oilers. If the Leafs end up trading Luke Schenn, Aulie will likely inherit a shutdown role and that's something he's very good at. The depth Toronto has on the blueline is pretty amazing and soon enough Brian Burke will use that strength to obtain a top six forward or even a goalie.

Lupul keeps lighting the lamp
Lupul had a goal and an assist in the Leafs 4-3 win over the Oilers. Lupul is currently just one point behind Phil Kessel for the team lead in points as his remarkable season continues.

Hiller is hot!
Jonas Hiller is 8-2 with a GAA just over 2 in the past month and he continued his excellent play on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hiller stopped 25 of 26 shots fired his way as the Ducks won the game 2-1 over the Penguins. He will need to be very good if the Ducks want to make the playoffs this year.

Productive Perry
Corey Perry put home his 28th of the season in last nights 2-1 win over the Penguins and will need to keep putting up good numbers if he wants his Ducks to make the playoffs.

Hefty Hemsky
Its safe to say the Oilers are torn on whether or not they should deal Ales Hemsky, because he's such a talented player yet he doesn't put in effort every night and seems to be injury prone. Hemsky continued his good play against the Leafs, making a few nifty moves and was strong on the puck when he had to be. He'll tell you the trade buzz isn't effecting his play, but it definitely is and in a good way. Could Hemsky be a good fit on a contender with some money to spend, like the Detroit Red Wings? Its definitely possible, we'll see what happens at the trade deadline.

Luongo comes up large
After allowing just one goal against the Coyotes earlier in the week, Roberto Luongo was fantastic once again in Wednesdays tilt with the Avalanche. Luongo stopped 29 of 30 shots and led the Canucks to a 3-1 win.

Game changing Gardiner
Jake Gardiner leads all rookie defencemen in points with 18 and he was very effective again on Wednesday. Gardiner scored to give the Leafs a 3-2 lead on a perfect low slap shot, which passed Nikolai Khabibulin and definitely surprised the crowd. Gardiner doesn't take a whole lot of shots, but maybe he should shoot more. He also played just over 24 minutes in the game, which is impressive to say the least. The 21-year old rookie has 3 goals and just 50 shots this season.

Vigorous Varlamov
Semyon Varlamov stepped in for an injured Jean-Sebastien Giguere and stopped all but one shot in a tough loss for Colorado. He's had a tough year, but Giguere has been very good for the Avs and Varlamov hasn't had much of an opportunity to start throughout the year.

Carey Price and Tim Thomas
Both Price and Thomas were terrific in last nights Boston-Montreal game. Price stopped 32 of 35 shots, while Thomas turned aside 26 of 29 shots. Each goalie made several huge saves and Thomas clinched the win with an athletic toe save on Max Pacioretty after Tyler Seguin scored the lone goal in the shootout. The Habs and B's have squared off 715 times and its always entertaining to watch the two clubs clash.

Witty White
You can't help but have respect for Ryan White. He took on one of the toughest enforcers in the league, Shawn Thornton in a fight and got in a few good shots during the scrap. Despite the fact that Thornton is much bigger than White, he didn't hesitate to drop the gloves. It's a big chance of pace, because his last fight was against Nazem Kadri during a game between the Toronto Marlies and Hamilton Bulldogs.

DUDS

Fickle Florida netminders
Jose Theodore was pulled after allowing two goals on 15 shots in last nights duel with the Senators. Meanwhile, Scott Clemmensen wasn't much better either. He let in four goals on 16 shots.

Silent Stastny
Paul Stastny only has 36 points this season and isn't doing nearly enough for his team. The chances of him getting traded are low, because he's not the same player he once was. Stastny has gone two games without points.

Krejci nowhere to be seen
David Krejci might have 39 points on the season, but he hasn't recorded a point in his last seven games. The Boston pivot will need to provide more offense for the team if they want to repeat as Stanley cup champions.
