You also have to keep in mind that during the playoffs, it doesn't matter what happened during the regular season, it's 1 week 7 days... So you could have won every week during the regular season, but a hot week from your opponent and boom you're done.

Goalie stats are a team production, you have 9 forwards to help you produce those 7 stats, so losing a Giroux/Ovy wouldn't hamper your team, because you have say 30 some starts to produce those numbers. But goalies you have 3 goalies controlling 4 stats from say 6-8 starts, so you want to get those right.

Which is why you need to do it sneakily... So if you package Crawford with Giroux, your trade partner might see Giroux and hit accept without analysing all of the numbers.

Howard is a good option, but with the hand injury, I'm not entirely sold on him. Depending on the price of course. If it's reasonable then he's a good target, but if it costs you dearly then it's not worth it.

Biron is ok, but you'll just be getting the handcuff really, not really getting a starter...

Price is ok, but once again you'll be playing with fire...

Lehtonen could be a good option, Dallas will be in the hunt till the very end IMO. Decent stats that won't really blow up... decent playoff schedule as well.

I'd target him for sure.

Also a Bandaid Boy, and pretty big injury risk. I don't think any of these options really ensure any amount of improvement in net. And if thats the case, why bother dealing top tier guys like Giroux and Ovi? Along with Malkin, Giroux is the biggest reason I'm in first......no way I'm trading him for anything less that a next-to sure bet in net.

I think I'd opt for the handcuff and wait out Crawford's slump before offering the moon for any of the goalies I listed. If there was a Feury/Niemi/Quick option floating around out there, I'd definitely look at dishing Ovi or Giroux in a package, but I really don't think those guys are for sale.

Definitely... if you are going to move Ovy or Giroux definitely expect the best back, or else no point in dealing... But you do need to explore the possibilities. Toss an offer out there and see if they'll bite, you never know what might or might not get done unless you try. If you don't try it could come back to kick you in the butt later on knowing you coulda done something but you didn't...

Very sage advice. I'll see what I can cook up and send some offers out tomorrow. MAybe you're right and someone will hit accept when they see an Ovi or Giroux in the deal and not stop to do the analysis.

Thanks a lot for your help! I'd like to dish out some rep, how the heck do you do that?

On my posts just click on the scale thing next to the caution sign... top right corner.

But yeah doesn't hurt to toss a line, and if it's not to your liking then stand pat and pick up Biron... but you never know what giroux/crawford could land.

A lot of poolies are into "big names" and once they see that, their eyes light up.
