I went to see the Rebels play the Hitmen last night and one of the main reasons why I went was to watch this kid. He was really impressive for me personally. I never realized how small he actually is because of the way he plays. You always see highlight reels where he is crushing guys. His mobility and passing really impressed me last night. Hes got amazing agility and can easily spin off anyone.
I really hope the Oilers look long and hard at the kid. He looks like everything were missing right now. Hes a great 2 way guy and I have a feeling he can defiantly turn into a top pairing dman. It seemed like for awhile he never left the ice. Petrovic was also fairly solid out there. The kid is huge. Had a couple of really nice hits, fairly mobile for a big guy and he has a decent first pass. I think he could turn into a solid second pairing guy if he is brought along right. I wont expect to see him in the NHL for at least 3 more years but he could be a good NHLer.

Good Stuff Riverboat! Getting someones impressions based on having actually watching these prospects play is huge. Dumba is obviously on everyone's radar, his size is an issue, and you can discount the fact that it's a different story in the bigs. He's certainly top ten, should be interesting to watch if he can transition. Does the name Ryan Ellis ring a bell? Thanks for this post.

I think that you can compare the too slightly because of their size but their style is completely different. Yes Dumba is also gifted offensivley and a decent puck mover but he is no Ellis in that category. Dumba is a decent skater and has awesome agility but I think Ellis is more similar to a guy like Karlsson or Letang. Also Ellis does not bring a physical aspect to the game where Dumba can be hunting heads at times and can make the momentum changing big hit.
I still hope the Oilers trade down a spot or 2 for this kid. His style kind of reminds me of a Suter or Edler but a bit better of a skater IMO.

I think he will be the first defenseman taken off the boards in the top 5 in June. He's got a lot of spunk but he does need to fill out. His play style could be a magnet for injuries at his current size. I would have no problems drafting him as a prospect in a keeper pool. The combination of his offense and PIM is too good to pass up in multicat leagues.

It's funny, but when I saw him play here in Vic I was rather unimpressed by him. Really didn't stand out at all (though to be fair, for a D-man that isn't always bad).
I was more impressed with Murray when he was here.
