lots of threads and even dobber ranks the top 50 (i think goalie guild does it now). What type of skew do you want, weighed to now, 5 years, forever.
If i were drafting today for a league that i expecet to have these guys forever, my list would be: 1. Lundquist 2. Price 3. MA fleury 4. Pekka rinne 5. Cam Ward Lundy is 28 or so, and the oldest on the list, so every guy without injury is a starter for the next 5-15 years. While ward may never put up elite numbers he is a very steady goalie that even with a really down year is still cemented so tight into the starting gig he is not going anywhere. Other names i see being listed would be: quick- i am still not sold that he will never lose time to bernier. rask- time share right now, and could be in the same boat next year. he is an elite talent. howard- still stuck thinking he is a very good backup or slightly below average starter on a team that just makes him look like a stud. Bryzgalov- struggled lately. still great, but he is actually older than most of my list above and really has never been super elite. Louongo- just getting older

Replace Fleury with Ward and I can get on board with this...

Quote:
I think Quick will remain the starter in LA. He's done too well this year, and last. Bernier is trade bait. Rask/Thomas would be #1 if they didn't split. I look for 60/40 thomas remainder of this year, 50/50 next year, and then Thomas in a UFA. This summer, Rask will be a RFA and Bruin fans are expecting him to sign a discounted $2m or so, which is a joke. Agents are there to work for more money, he wont sign early for less than 4.5m, which would be the range of a convenient offer sheet. I wouldn't doubt him being offer sheeted up to nearly $7m (a 1st and a 3rd compensation), so why sign early for less than half. What does Rask's value become if he leaves the best team in the league? Price, I'd push him down the list a bit. I agree with his talent, but Montreal isn't a team that Im looking to stock up on players from. It could be a sad next 2 or 3 years in Montreal. I'd take Rinne and Quick both over him.

With ratios included, I'd go:
Lundqvist Rinne Quick (most underrated elite goalie in the league, you can get him a lot cheaper than the others) Fleury Price

1. Lundqvist (#1. NYR has finally shedded all those terrible contracts. Solid team & D for years!)
2. Fleury (PIT is very, very strong defensively when healthy - people overlook this.) 3. Rinne (2nd best goaltender in the league, IMO. Only the W will hurt going forward) 4. Miller (I have faith. And BUF has a lot of money to spend. Just a bad year) *------ [Quick/Bryz/Price/Howard/Luongo - my contenders for #5] At the start of the season, I had an ELITE SIX which did NOT include Fleury & DID include Bryzgalov & Price & Luongo. I'd probably still lean to Bryz in the #5 spot. I think Bryz is going through the cursed year: #1 Goalie with Expectations. Virtually every goalie struggles in his first year as an annointed #1 goalie on a quality team. Price is a top 5 goalie by talent alone... but Montreal is just a bad team - I called this at the start of the season. They are in a position similar to the Rangers 3-4 years ago... too many bad contracts and no direction as a team. Of course, a few trades and the right coach and I'd completely flip my value on Price to top three. Luongo is an interesting case... not sold he'll remain in Vancouver anymore. Tampa Bay and Stevie Y need a goalie BAD - and they have good memories of that Olympic victory! Quick is indeed an underrated elite goalie... but my comfort level is lower with guys that don't have that long-term contract. A lot could happen in the two years until his contract expires... and that gives me a little of sticker shock. I'd still probably take Bryz & Price before Quick. My picks. RASK will be top 5 on this list for me mid-next-year. But he's got another full season of probably seeing less than 40 starts. 2013-2014 though... yum, yum RASK... How come Halak doesn't get any love? He's killing it on St. Louis they make it easy for him, and long term he is the starter over Elliot. I've seen Bryz in posts read above, from experience of owning both of them this year Halak seems like the stud to have.
My top 5 Keeper Goalies: Lunqivist Quick Rinne Price Fluery Honourable mention: (Schnieder/Rask)
