I updated my last post so in case anyone missed it:
UPDATE: To put Elliott's start in perspective, the Monsters have scored 5 goals in 5 games and Elliott has assisted on 2 of them. With 12 shots he leads the team in that department. And by most accounts the lack of offense is due to 3 of their 4 centers currently being injured (including Joey Hishon). That and Ryan Stoa royally stinking up the joint most nights.

10GP, 0G, 0A, +/- 0, 10 PIM Guess who's stat line this is from last year in the AHL before he got a call up and scored 9 goals and 43 points. That's right, Kevin Shattenkirk. If anything you should be jumping up and down with excitement that Elliott has 2 more points in 5 less games than Shattenkirk did last year! That means Elliott is going to score at an 86 point pace when he gets called up! ![]() Ok seriously though, don't put too much weight into the 1st 5 games especially in the AHL. It's not like he's playing with the worlds greatest talent at forward. You should have seen Elliott in training camp, he was a standout and was blowing by other players with his speed.

Veritas - You seem to be the guy with the good Avs knowledge. Do you think its just a matter or time, or will it be an injury case?

If the Avs start losing or a player on the blueline gets hurt or starts playing like crap Elliott will or should get a call. No one can really predict injuries (unless your name is DiPietro, Connolly, Hemsky, Havlat, etc) but seeing as how the Avs blueline is bigger and tougher this year (aka less injury prone than the smurfs they were rolling with last year) it might be harder for Elliott to buy into the lineup. Who knows though, injuries and scratches happen all the time. So long story short, I think for now Elliott is in the minors. The Avs D are playing well and they are staying competitive but like I said, things can change in a second. Sorry I couldn't be more specific for ya.

1st goal last night. OT winner and an assist on Gaunce's tying goal in the 3rd.
That being said. As Veritas said, there's really no room for him until a significant injury happens on the avs blue line. They're not going to call him up and sit him in the pressbox.

Been keeping tabs on this guy by watching some video of him as I don't get to see that many Avs games, but just going to revive the thread to say that I found it interesting that since his recall, ALL 4 of Stefan Elliott's goals have been by wrist shot, from the slot or point. The videos of his goals are at NHL.com under his player page for those who didn't already know.
Some pretty wicked goals too...All by wrist shot... Wouldn't be as interesting if it wasn't for the fact that he's a defenceman. Unusual that he seemed to choose wrist over slap shot, instead of a guy like...Subban.
