I'm happy with Kulikov's performance so far and he has a great upside, but my friend has Carlson and may be willing to do the trade as he's a fan of Kulikov. Is this a big win for me or closer than I think?

this year i think kulikov outpoints carlson in a pts-only, but a multi-cat league will hold carlson with much higher value... and in time, i think carlson outpoints kulikov too.

I actually think you're better off sticking with Kulikov. Carlson is settling into a more defensive role with the Caps, plus he has to compete with Green and Wideman for powerplay time. Also the Caps have Orlov in their system, so PP time is always going to be an issue for him IMO.
Kulikov is getting boatloads of PP time in Florida right now and is producing plus he will give you more Hits so I think you've got to stick with him.

Thanks for the input. If it's a close call I think I'll stick with Kulikov for now and see how he progresses. I do like that he's the go to guy for the PP.

Carlson has the slightly higher offensive potential in the long run and may be a little better regarding PIM´s and +/-. But Kulikov is the safer bet cause he is a steady guy with tremendous work ethic.
If you like to gamble a little take Carlson, if you want to play it safe Kulikov is your guy. Both are great options.

I for one think Carlson is the clear choice. This is just a tough year so far with so many proven offensive vets on the squad. Green, Wideman, Hammertime. But I still feel he will be the #1 D man on this Caps squad by years end.
I do like Kulikov, but if you can get Carlson for him in a keeper, I think you've made a great deal.

Wow, bold statement. He'll overtake Green? I suppose if injuries plague him anything is possible. But otherwise I don't think a healthy Green needs to be replaced. I do love Carlson's defensive side to go with his great offensive sense though, and so I could see him on the top pairing sooner rather than later as he continues to establish his reliability at both ends of the ice. Green's injury is giving Carlson a great opportunity to prove that right now, but I think he'll slip back to the second pairing when Green returns for the time being anyway. I'd be a happy camper if you were right, but I just don't see it yet.
