Giordano for the Flames seems to have all the tools to challenge for 50-55 points. He had a somewhat of a break out season last year with 43 points and this year, while off to a slow start (3pts in his first 9 games), he is the number one D on the pp in Calgary as he is getting all the first pp minutes. I've had him on my roster for two years now and I keep hoping he will have that real break out year with more than 50 points. He has Iggy and Tanguay to pop the pucks in the basket and I think he can get better. There are only so many games he can get six minutes of pp time and not register any points.
I'm going to start him this week as Calgary has 4 games from monday to Sunday and Green is injured. Am I living in la-la land if i expect him to be any more than he already is? Or is he primed for a break out one of these days? Thanks ahead of time.

I owned him last year and I think he's an awesome all-around player (and I'm a Canucks fan so I don't generally get that excited about a Flame!). I think he could put up 50 points in a season if everything lines up. But I had some concerns when I owned him - he plays balls out every night, and I'm a bit concerned about being able to play that style of play without sooner or later getting a serious injury or too. Plus in my league we only count points and +/- so his contributions in other stats are lost. Plus I don't like the situation for the Flames for the next few years. So all of this led me to trade him and I figured I was selling high.
I think he'll pick it up and should still get 40+ points this year (barring injury - as mentioned, for some reason this is a concern I have with him - more based on a hunch than anything concrete). I think he has 50 point potential but I'm not sure if he'll realize it. Great player (and even more so in the real world than in fantasy). Hope this helps.

real world stud. great player for multi-cat fantasy. though, i think what you see is basically what you get. 40+ points with strong peripherals. a few good bounces through any given season and he could challenge 50. he will be a flame for a long-time, though its not like the flames don't score (top 8 offence and top 8 powerplay last year)... though they will probably have trouble reaching those stats moving forwards.

Gio's stats have increased every year of his career. Expectations should be tempered at or around his production of last year, a slight increase isnt unrealisitc but wont be a 10-15 pt bump. In a league with hits and blocks, hes awesome.

Gio is the Flames most valuable defensemen. He is not a sexy player and often flies under the radar but this kid sure can play. He is off to a bit of a slow start offensively but he will make up for it soon enough. You are going to want go stick with him that's for sure.
