Default Trading Del Zotto

Hi guys,

I was after JVR and Okposo. I think I'm gonna skip on JVR in case he doesn't live up to his contract next year but I still wanna go for Okposo who's contract for the next 5 years makes him a potential bargain. Would Del Zotto <--> Okposo be a trade that you'd make?

I got Del Zotto on the cheap during his rookie season, I think he'll be better than last year obviously but at the same time, the NYR defence is deep w/potential. Staal, McDonagh, Girardi, Erixon, McIlrath, and Sauer are all dmen who have the potential to be better defensively than Del Zotto. Now he is obviously better than most of those guys offensively but I wouldn't be surprised to see McDonagh at least play a bigger role on the PP as well as Staal. So is trading Del Zotto due to competition on NYR a good idea? I haven't seen him play a tonne this year so I can't really judge but I have noticed that Tortorello's NYR players often put in an inconsistent effort. Okposo's value is a bit low right now so I feel it might be a good situation and he's a Parenteau injury/demotion away from playing with Tavares.

All depends on your league setup. Fwd for D trades especially always very from league to league but if you are already comfortable with your D this seems like a good move.

However, my one keeper is a pts only cap league and one dimensional dman are very good to own as they get paid to play on the pp and put up pts, not to defend the other teams top line.

league stat cats are the deciding factor.
In my current league, I would offend the Okposo owner with a straight up offer.

I think DelZotto will be stunted offensively until he learns to play D first.

If you can do the trade go for it.
