Hey guys, what do you expect from Travis Hamonic for points over the next 2-3 years. I am in an points only keeper league (goals and assists only) and am thinking of acquiring him.
He had a decent year last year 5g 21a in 62 games, not bad for a rook........ Any advice is appreciated from the rest of dobber nation. Cheers.

Personally, I really like him for 35+ pts this season. IMO he should be a solid 35-40+ pt guy every yr.

He's probably the #2 defenseman in NYI behind Streit and has a very good shot of playing 1st PP team. He's more of a feisty 2-way guy with offensive skills but can look after the defensive end, which makes him a good compliment to Streit. At worse, he will be 2nd pairing, but I think they need his sand paper on the top line. My guess would be 35-40 pts if he sticks with Streit.

Points only he isn't as valuable...I wouldn't peg him as more than a 40-45 point D in his prime.
Next season I would probably put him at 30-35 points, a nice little increase with a healthy Streit in the lineup. |

I don't think it's a stretch to think that Hamonic will notch close to 35 points going forward with some expectation for a little more over time. The Isle are going to start scoring a little more as they mature as a young team and he should benefit from that.

I grabbed him hoping for 30 -- but I always shoot low with expectations because I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. I don't think 35 is out of the question at all.
The good: he had a great rookie year and the Isles are only going to get better offensively I'd think. Streit should add to the PP considerably. The bad: Calvin de Haan. Sooner or later (and I wouldn't worry too much about this year) the first round pick is going to challenge, and Hamonic is solid enough defensively that he might get relegated to more PK and ES time than PP. Having said that, I'm still happy to own him and think he'll contribute this season in my points-only pool.

He will probably be around the same as last year. He got more playing time and power play because of Streit's injury last year. He wont get that much time this year. in 2-3 years he could be up to the 40 point range.

he definitely holds more value in multi cat leagues. He should get between 35 - 40 points each season, with a few into the 40's (between 40 - 45).
As long as you set your expectations around these numbers you should be good. If he gets more and takes his game to the next level and establishes himself with the young core could mean more opportunity.
