Ladd-Little-Wheeler Kane-Antropov-Fehr As for Antropov, I'd guess at a slight improvement from last year (when his ice-time was dropped fairly significantly, for some reason, to 15:39). Let's say something like 50 pts, 40 PIM, 120 SOG, -5 The Jets should be coming up in the top six depth articles on this site soon, I think. |

An interesting article on whether or not the Jets should take on Zherdev (who apparently would like to play in Winnipeg):
http://illegalcurve.com/2011/07/28/w...um/#more-30819 Would it be that horrible if the Jets signed him? Could one young, aloof player do that much damage to a team surrounded by solid character people? Zherdev's got to know he is (or is very near) on his last leg in the NHL, so maybe that puts a burr under his saddle? Zherdev doesn't seem like the type of player that the organization is targeting; however, the fact that he named Winnipeg as the place he'd like to sign says to me that maybe Cheveldayoff at least has a conversation with him. I just wonder if there's any real chance Chevy's at all interested. Probably not, but the team could certainly use a bit of depth up front, particularly on the right side. |

Ladd-Little-Wheeler should be a line set in stone.
As for the others and Antro, I'm not sure what will happen with him. He's kinda bad in faceoffs, and I know sometimes he'll play wing. With Burmi in the loop, I think Antropov could be playing right wing on a line with Kane and Burmistrov. I don't know if Burmistrov should be burried on the 3rd line again, he should get some nice minutes to prove himself. I would like to see a line of Kane-Burmistrov-Antropov. I could see Kane and Burmistrov working magic on the ice.

This reminds me of the Afinogenov situation 2 years back, an outcome which I was VERY pleased with. Max wanted to play in Atlanta, and the Thrashers took him in on a tryout to where he eventually signed a 1 year deal. The reward? A 24 goal, 61 point season. He became a fan favorite in his short time with the team, and he brought a lot of excitement. Everytime he had the puck I was just waiting for something brilliant to happen. Afinogenov had such a great season. He backchecked, forechecked, went hard to the net, had the same ole dangle skills... I could see Zherdev being similar to Afinogenov.

Happy birthday Evander Kane! 20 years old today!
Fun fact: Evander Kane was just an 18 year old rookie when he owned Chris Pronger TWICE in the same game to give the Thrashers the win. Big things in store for Kane and the Jets in the future!

Well he can't really take much more of a step back. His -45 over the past 2 years is fugly. With a more experienced Pavelec, new coach, new scenery and fans who actually give a shit and will hold a player accountable, he should improve. Plus it's his "magical 4th year" this year. In comparison, Pronger was -33 in his first 3 seasons and was +47 in his 5th year in the league. Defencemen take longer to find their stride in the league.
