I was the one who posted Hall for Stamkos. Thanks for all of the replies. I may try to offer him Evander Kane instead, who I see as having less certainty than Hall. Counter-arguments to what I heard about Hall...
- IF Hall comes close to Stamkos in production, I lose this trade. I know there is some risk, but I DO think Hall will make it. Scouting is so good now that prospects like Hall rarely miss. He's also in a great situation. Last top picks...OV, Crosby, Tavares, Kane, Stamkos, Nash, Kovy. Last flop was 1999 with Stefan. al of the others are league leaders. Does this change anyone's mind if I don't mind the wait? - Hall scored 0.65 PPG compared to Stamkos at 0.58 PPG in his rookie season and Stamkos played with better players. Negligible difference, but it is better. Stamkos actauly posted a 0.71 PPG over the last 3 months. That slump is close to Hall's rookie production. - wasn't saying Stamkos is over the hill, just that St. Louis may be inflating his numbers by 10 or 15 points per year. Hall looks like a player that will generate his own chances rather than needing a setup guy. - I do believe Stevie Y will take good care of Stamkos, but chemistry is sometimes hard to replicate like my Heatley/Spezza vs Thornton example. Thornton is good, but not as good for Heatley as Spezza was. ...so obviously I'd do the Kane version of the deal, but do you think he might bite. I put a lot of value in E Kane. Do you guys? Any thoughts on the counter-arguments for Hall? Thanks again. |

I never figured out if the other guy proposed the original deal with Hall or not but this is even worse for him. If he'll do Kane & throw in's for Stammer and Enstrom, you have to take it.
I would have done the original deal with Hall as well.

Yes...
I get Stamkos, Enstrom, and a pick He gets Hall, Whitney, and Pavelec. (or E Kane if I can pull that off) Interested in opinions on Hall counter-arguments and if people place a lot of value on E Kane. Thanks. |

My counter argument would be back to back 90+ point seasons vs. a player on a re-building franchise with mostly only kids to play with. I would love to have Hall on my team but Stamkos is the one to own of the 2 two right now and possibly the next couple years.
I'm not worried about St.Louis inflating numbers, it's not like he;s going anywhere yet and by that time, Stamkos will have evolved into a better player.

A very good LW and potentially very good goalie for a C you don't really need although he is an upgrade and a D upgrade just doesn't look right to me.
If I was in that league and owned Stamkos but was thin on LW and in Goal - this is the kind of deal I would be looking for. This guy isn't making this offer because he likes you - what does he know about this league?

Stamkos is better than Hall straight up and E.Kane in a multi-cat I would take over Hall in a heartbeat as E.Kane will be an 80 guy with 90+ upside and great peripherals where as Hall would have to hit 90+ consistently to be of equal value. Hall for Stamkos is a better route in my opinion in a multi-cat setting, E.Kane in a points only format. Stamkos is the best guy in the deal though regardless of the setting so make that move

Im shocked that stamkos for hall or e kane is even an option.
I hold Kane and Hall in very high regard, but it wasn't long ago that we were talking about a "big 4" with Stamkos.

It still is the big 4 to me...Malkin is the most hard pressed actually in my eyes to hit 100 moving forward and even if he does it's gonna be an assist-heavy version of it where as Stamkos will at least go goal-heavy which is of greater comparative value in most scoring settings. Ovechkin and Crosby have the bigger potential upside but theres only 4 guys right now capable of hitting 100mark consistently over any prolonged span of time and that's Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, and maybe Malkin. Malkin I only valued at an assist heavy 90-95 range personally pre-ACL tear and high 80's-low 90's afterward. So it's still big 4 to me where as most other people just change values with the monthly to bi-monthly production ebbs and flows.
I actually took Perry believe it or not in my Multi-cat keeper which drafted Jan 31st (ie; pre Malkin ACL tear and pre-late season explosion once Getzlaf returned) and got shit for it, but I guarentee with Perry going 40G-85pts and 80-110 PIM (which is what I value him at upon drafting and moving forward) that it's not gonna look too bad at all between the two (even aside from the tandems system I use)...point here being my player values are created by me and it's based on a combination of skill-set, skating ability, environment in which they play, mental fitness, and style of play, not just what the numbers they put up are at the end of the day are so I personally still value Stamkos as a consistent 45-45 to 50-50 option with upside to about 110ish Malkin high 80's-95, upper 30G, and 100-110 upside and it'd only be 100 if Crosby wasn't on his team. It still is the big 4 to me, I dunno about anyone else though. Last edited by MT319; 05-06-2011 at 09:46 AM. |
