whats his value in a full keeper salary league?
pretty much my question is if you traded him what return would you look for

Really hard to say. His value goes up when he's scoring a lot, and then plummets when he's not. Or when he's injured. He's a hard player to own because other GMs will inevitably low-ball you because of his injury history.
He has been under-performing this season. I'm not sure exactly why, but now you hear that he might be on the block. I think he's not happy with Tortella and/or vice versa. That makes sense when you combine it with the trade rumors. I would wait until the trade deadline and see if he does indeed get moved. I would not trade him now.

Ideally, find the New York Rangers / Gaborik fan in your league and tell him he's available. You'll get the best value there... barring that, Instant Karma said.

I'd hold on to him until after the trade deadline as well. There are a lot of places he could get moved that would boost his value, and as well usually immediately after a move players usually play really well given the ice time and chances they're awarded, even if they're not able to maintain that pace for long.
I think he's a buy-low right now, so I'd wait to hope he can go on another one of his tears. I think part of the problem is he's seemed to be the odd man out at a lot of points during the season given how the line combinations have shaken out. I'd love to see him beside a big name playmaking centre.

I think you should safely move him for a ppg player who is more durable but is less flashy. What are your cats like? Team needs? Like other said, he carries a lot of value when he's on fire but invites many lowballs bc of injury issues. I'd be happy with a consistent ppg player back. Maybe a local boy (CAN,USA) who is less likely to flee to Russia (even though I don't think Gabby ever would). Again, I'd have to see the cats in your league to know for sure. If we're talking straight points, no positions among forwards, I'd be happy with getting back someone like Eric Staal for Gabby, Zach Parise, Loui Eriksson....If you can get guys like that, I think you get great great value and avoid the injury risks. Bc of the lowball, you can likely expect more guys like M. Richards or J. Carter, D. Roy, P. Marleau, guys in that 0.9 ppg range who are less flashy but get the job done...

I totally agree with the idea of trying to get a more reliable player but IMO, in points only, even guys in the 0.9 range would be overpaying for Gaborik. I view him as an average 65pts player due to the injury risk (he's basically a ppg player that plays 65 games a year - on average). I'm not sure this would change if traded, it might in the very short-term but the injury risks would remain.
Best may be to try to grab one or two good prospects instead of hoping for a Carter, etc.

Though he does get injured more than most (obviously), he does perform at a very high level when healthy (which is more often than not these days). You would presumably have him in the lineup at that time. So viewing him as a 65 pt. player is a wild misconception. 65 pt. players are 65 pt. players. The Gaboriks and Semins of the world are not 65 pt players.

wow guys thanks for all the reply's!
I'm in a full on rebuild right now, and since im trying to make salary room I'm targeting players who are either on the ELC or have low salary's I threw him out on the trade block and got a few inquiries but it was mostly players with high salary back, and a few prospects but then i approached a team that was in the hunt for the championship and offered my Gaborik for his Voracek(full rebuild so i decided to take the chance on him) it got accepted so I traded my 7.5mill Gabby for 0.787 Voracek I'm pretty happy about it, but what are your thoughts
