Just wondering what peoples think the impact will be on players like Erikksson and Neal next going forward if Richards is gone via trade or FA. I can't see it not having an effect on the team because those #1 centermen can be hard to come by in the NHL.

I think all of this trade deadline talk is overblown, and basically originates from people who get wood thinking of Richards coming to their team. Dallas is a pretty young team so prospects aren't going to turn their head too much, and they've never been overly concerned with draft picks.

However, Richards leaving via free agency if the Dallas ownership situation doesn't get resolved is a whole other issue. That could happen. It would definitely hurt both Eriksson and Neal (and Morrow and Ribs and Benn, to a lesser extent) if he get's moved.

But after missing the playoffs last year, I don't see them moving Richards at the deadline.
