The only I've heard of this is on this site. I can't find the official source anywhere else. Anyone has something other than what's written on the site?

It was from some Penguins reporter, but there is no official confirmation from the Penguins. Take it with a grain of salt for now.

My buddy in Pittsburgh (reasonably connected) seems to think March is an optimistic timeline. Little improvement. These things can go away quickly but it is impossible to predict any sort of date. I'd expect the worst (season) and plan from there.

The bottom line is it is literally impossible to give a timeline because he is not symptom free.
A mid-March symptom-free return would be fantastic. This is not going well for Sid.

From what I've read Sid has only been doing very light workouts at home. ie. bike. To me that sounds like he's not even close to coming back.
With Malkin done for the season, I can see Sid calling it quits as well. What's the point in coming back if they are not going to be a cup contender. Mine as well take the time to rest to make sure he's 100% for next year.

It's definitely not looking good for Crosby at this time and the Penguins will definitely (or better) make damn certain that their franchise player ONLY returns when healthy. The Marc Savard situation will definitely influence the Penguins' decision on Crosby. If he isn't symptom free yet then I would say April is the best case scenario.
It probably doesn't help that Gary Bettman keeps popping in on Crosby with a bottle of Jergens offering up complimentary groin massages. Let Sidney rest Gary. |
