I know that on the Kings DD and JJ are the main attraction, and I know they have other promising young Dmen in Hickey, Forbort, etc......in spite of that I've wondered about Vyacheslav Voynov as a possible stud in the making for the past year or so.
Hockeydb.com has him with 6G-21A for 27 pts in 34 games this year for the AHL Monarchs. Last year he put up 10G-19A for 29 points but that was in 79 games. It looks like he's officially "gotten" the North American game and his stats this year are pretty hard to ignore, especially from a defenceman and especially since he'll only be turning 21 this month. Any other thoughts, insight or NHL projections on him would be appreciated. |

I'm not sure he'll do much on LA without an injury. If he goes to another team like NJ that needs a PPQB I think he'd really flourish.

"Defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov of the Manchester Monarchs claimed the top speed in the Reebok Fastest Skater event, completing his spin around the rink in 14.197 seconds. Voynov, a second-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Kings in 2008 and an AHL All-Star for the second time in as many seasons, hit the All-Star Classic leading all AHL defensemen in both goals (11) and points (36) through 46 contests."
It's all coming together baby! Hopefully he gets shipped off at the NHL deadline but please oh please don't let him raise his profile a la McBain 2010 to close the year! I'd like to use a pick later rather then sooner on this guy! |

I see stud future written all over this guy. I've had him stashed on my farm for the last year+, and am watching his game mature with great anticipation. Not sure what Lombardi will do with VV, considering DD & JJ are gonna be there for a long time, but wherever Voynov gets his shot it's gonna be fun to watch.

I like that symmetry too...
![]() Only in La-La Land. Seriously though, Voynov's development led me to dropping Thomas Hickey from my farm team to pick up a forward. I'd held onto Hickey the past 2 years, but just don't see him being a fantasy-relevant d-man when he finally lands in the NHL, especially in LA. They have Teubert in the system as well, but he'll be a shut-down guy. Hickey lit up Juniors offensively, but not so much in the A. Compare current season stats at Manchester: Hickey 51GP 6G 15A 21Pts 23PIM +12 Voynov 48GP 12G 25A 37Pts 30PIM +10 I'd love to see PP times for each per game, but can guess how they break down; ie, Voynov runs PP1 for sure. I do find it interesting the listed sizes of these 2 as well: Hickey 5'10" 182lbs Voynov 5'11" 202lbs At that size, if Hickey's not a featured puck-moving, power-play running d-man, what's his role going to be? With Doughty, Johnson and Voynov ahead of him on that depth chart, it doesn't look good for him. Any Kings fans have more insight?
