Default Malkin Deal

A fellow GM in our league near the top (4th of 15), currently owns Malkin and after the news from this afternoon he's looking to deal him. He's contacted me with the following offer.

Heatley, M.Richards and Babchuk FOR Malkin, Kessel and Stralman

I get younger in the deal and I'm getting Malkin but is he worth me giving up Heatley and Richards? Kessel, his best year was 60 points with Savard feeding him the puck and I've never been a real big fan of the guy. I think that is the reason I'm balking at this offer but I'm still getting Malkin. Need some advice to steer me in the right direction here. Thanks guys

Wait for some of the senior guy's to chime in but right now I'm really worried at how this affects malkin's long term play, two bum knee's is scarey.

Giving up 2 80 point player's seems like too much for him and leaves you thin in keeper depth, Richard's is just entering his prime and on a great team that's only getting better. Definetly not a fan of kessel's or toronto.

I agree with Vancity......too much risk to take on. I've been reading and hearing that worst case scenario..Malkin could be done for a solid year. Then, he comes back with that wonky knee? I bet if you really want him, you could get him for a lot less.

I'd be willing to pull the trigger on such a deal, but I'd first send back a counter offer and see if you can get him for less.

I think he's well worth making a play for. He'll have all off season to rehab, so in many ways it's better that he hurt himself now then in the playoffs. I think he had the earlier knee problems he had during the season as he hadn't had enough time to rest to allow it to heal properly.

Even though he has a very bad knee injury, I'd be more concerned with a concussion. Malkin given his size and stick handling ability isn't a smaller player who almost solely relies on his speed to be effective. Plus other players have been able to come back from similar injuries, and he's still very young.

Of course there's risk in taking him, so you need to get him at a significant discount, but with a significant discount I think he's well worth the risk.

I would be willing to take this offer, but would try a counter offer to see if you can get him for less.

Do not, under any circumstances, accept his first offer. You can get him for less, or he wouldn't be moving him in the first place.

Either upgrade Stralman, or Keep one of Heatly or Richards. Se what that gets ya.

I would pass. This deal is pretty much Heatley and Richards for Malkin and Kessel. If Malkin were healthy, yes, I would do this. But this is a bad injury, and although I would try to get Malkin, I would not give up two steady studs like Heatley and Richards for him. As for Kessel, I hate him and wouldn't touch him under pretty much any circumstance.
