Keeper league, pointbased Yahoo, g=2, a=1, ppg,ppa=1, positions count. I get to keep 4 players, the others are: Crosby, Hossa (the elder...), Briere.
Question: Who is my fourth guy? Kariya, Elias, Stastny or Frolov. I basically have 2 Cs already, I could do with 3, but top LWs are more hard to come by, that favours Kariya and Frolow, partly Elias since he most certainly also will be LW eligable. Will Statsny continue to rise? Will Frolov continue, maybe add some consistency with the new LA youngsters, who looks promising? Elias: Last year, what was that all about? Will he come back? Kariya: Same here? Last year, this time I would have said Elias no doubt, but now I am leaning towards taking a chance with Frolov. Who has the better upside of the 4?

Of the four, I\'d like to have Stastny the most, but as you say in your post, I\'d be tentative about keeping 3 centers and only one wing. Because of this fact, I\'d go with Frolov.
I pick Frolov over Elias, and Kariya because: 1) they are both much older (Frolov is only 25, while elias is 31, and kariya is 33) 2) Frolov is on a high powered offensive team, that is young and only getting better, while Elias is on a offensive black hole of a team, and Kariya could be anywhere after free agency (he\'s a UFA right now) 3) This is the time to accumulate players from LA. They are going to be amazing in 2 years, and EVERYONE will want their players. Get them and/or keep them now while you have the chance. Upside (in my opinion) for the four guys: Stastny: 85 points - Sakic will continue to steal a lot of the shifts this kid would otherwise get. Frolov: 85 points - Plus/minus will likely be worse than Stastny\'s, but he will be playing with some of the best young set up men in the league. Kariya: 60-80 points - depending where he goes and/or how he fits into his team next season Elias: 75 points - Unless NJ changes next season, Elias will be the lowest scoring, \"awesome player\" in the league. So my final recommendation: Take stastny if you don\'t mind the 3rd center (on the bright side, you could use your first 2 or 3 draft picks on wingers if you saved Stastny)... Otherwise take Frolov, Kariya, or Elias (in that order).

Hello P:
I agree with the assessment of Lanky, for the most part. I would prefer to have Stastny. I like Stastny\'s play better than Frolov and consider that his upside might be higher than Frolov. I base a lot of my opinion on what Stastny achieved, in the past year, and on his bloodlines. I would love to have a \'clone\' of his dad on my team. Frolov\'s experience and support cast might result in higher immediate production but long term I like Stastny\'s upside better. The fact that Stastny chose to play for the U.S at the World Championships might also suggest that his intentions are to have a long term career in North America. If his production is, in anyway, similar to that of his father then you have a keeper for years to come. In short, I am biased toward Stastny because of his play and he doesn\'t seem to mind the pressure of being compared to his father, evidenced by the fact that he wears the same #26. He has shown, thus far, that he can handle that pressure and produce at a high level. |

Frolov seems like the easy descion here, especially since you already have your centers so that eliminates Stastny no matter how good he is. Kariya is getting older and Elias is a band-aid boy. Yes Frolov can be inconsistent but do remember that now his teamates are maturing, and with guys like kopitar, cammalieri, brown, jack johnson, visnovsky, tukonen he is bound to get points.

I agree with Sakic. I\'ve been in a lot of Yahoo! leagues and almost ALWAYS find myself wishing that one or more of my good centers were eligible on the wing.
All things being equal, I\'d prefer Stastny... but the position issue gives Frolov the edge.
