Default PG 13 - Tuesday, December 21st

I am back with my final PG 13 before Praba returns. Enjoy

1. In-KOSTITSYN-cy
What's up with these brothers? Can they both not play well at the same time. Sergei Kostitsyn is red hot with 9 points in 8 games. AK is the latest Montreal Canadiens' healthy scratch. AK46 has not scored in 9 games and only had 3 points in that spand. Interesting trend of one sucking while the other is dominating.

2. Canadian WJC Freshmen.
For those who don't think the WJC are a tournament for the older prospects, Canada only has one 2011 Draft Eligible Player on their roster this season - Sean Couturier.

I found it interesting that there weren't more draft eligible players in previous years.
In 2009, Canada only had 3 draft eligible players on the roster - E. Kane, Ryan Ellis and John Tavares.
Last year, Canada also only had one draft eligible player - Taylor Hall.
You have to go back 3 years to find a team with 5 draft eligible players. In the 2008 WJC, Canada had 5 draft eligible player - Drew Doughty, Steven Stamkos, Zach Boychuk, John Tavares, and Luke Schenn

3. Carlson the New Green?
In tonights Capitals win (5-1) against the Devils, John Carlson has given Mike Green owners something to worry about. Carlson's PP time has increased faster than I had expected and he's currently outpointing the league's most offensive defenceman.
John Carlson - 1G, 1A, +4, 7:24 PP time
Mike Green - 0G, 0A, even, 7:20 PP time

This season, Carlson has 4G - 13A - 17P with a +10 rating and Green has 5G - 9A - 14P with a +5 rating. The gap is closing quickly.

4. Relocating the Entry Draft
CDN Standings: Toronto - 28th. Edmonton - 27th. Calgary - 25th. Ottawa - 24th
Maybe the NHL should look at moving the 2011 NHL Entry Draft to a Canadian city instead of Minnesota to make things a little more convenient for the canadian teams. With the exception of the Islanders, Devils, Florida and Boston (because of Toronto) the other 20 US teams wouldn't have to show up to the draft until the 8th pick.

5. Bitter Taste of Silver
Team Canada only has one returning forward in Brayden Schenn for the WJC Tournament this year. The returning defencemen are Jared Cowen, Ryan Ellis, and Calvin de Haan.

6. (Another) New Jersey Ugly Stat
Goal Differential for the Devils in the 2nd Period - 46GA, 20GF - wowzers. John MacLean needs to contact monster.com and start applying for some jobs.

7. Keep the Foot on the Pedal LA.
Here's a stat a coach hates to see. Los Angeles Kings' have surrendered 14 goals within 3 minutes of scoring one this season.

8. Coach of the Year (to date)
Leading candidate for Coach of the Year? Sacco, Boucher and Trotz will definitely be mentioned but my vote goes to Craig Ramsay. Coming into the night, the Thrashers are 19-12-5 and in a battle with the Capitals for 1st in the Southeast Division.

9. Thrashing the Mesh

More impressively, Atlanta has scored 119 goals which is second in the entire NHL. WOW!. Did anyone have Colorado and Atlanta as the two highest scoring teams in the NHL? Ya, I didn't think so.

10. Stamkos' Has 100 Gs in His Stocking
On Monday night, Steven Stamkos (20 years 316 days) became the sixth NHL player to reach 100 goals before his 21st birthday, joining Wayne Gretzky, Jimmy Carson, Brian Bellows, Dale Hawerchuk and Ilya Kovalchuk. Pretty good company.

11. Crosby's Stocking Stuffer - Moustache Trimmer?
One week has passed and Sidney Crosby is still sporting the pedaphile moustache as he continues his scoring streak to 21 games......and doesn't look to be slowing down. How much longer will this streak go? Let's hear your guesses.

12. Oilers' Value Without Hemsky
In the 10 Games Hemsky has missed, the Oilers have a 6 - 3 - 1 record. Two of the three loses were 1-goal games. With Hemsky in the lineup, the Oilers are 6-11-4. Do the Oilers really need Ales Hemsky?

13. Merry Christmas Dobberites!
Enjoy your time spent with family and friends. What do you want Santa to bring your fantasy team?

Cheers, DY
