I could use a boost on D until Myers and McBain pick it up. Should I drop Gilbert for Girardi, also considering Corrente

I like Girardi quite a bit, but I think once MDZ gets it going (which he will) then Girardi's value will take a hit.
That being said I really don't like Gilbert at all, so I would be very tempted by Girardi over Gilbert even if MDZ picks up his pace. I would probably go: Gilbert (simply has a higher trade value for some reason) Girardi (Short term better imo, and it's close for the year) Corrente

Girardi is a good NHL D-man. He is getting significantly more PP time this year, which should leave one to hope that he could be a 30-35 point player with 50PM. I wouldn't be counting on him for a major break through though. MDZ gets the big smoke. At the moment Girardi is second in line. Roszival & Staal won't be forgotten though. Should the forwards get healthy, it's reasonable to wonder that the PP features MDZ and forward on the point. If Girardi is 'for real' this is the critical moment to grab him.
Gilbert. I like him better, even if his numbers don't say so at the moment. He gets significant PP time. He just hasn't had much in the way of bounces yet. He's a 30 for sure and you get to wonder for 40. He makes $5.5M this year (cap hit of $4.0M). That's a bit nuts. Any leagues which use this years salary, he's good for nothing. Gilbert has absolutely no penalty minutes, which may be concerning. Does he compete hard enough on a shift-to-shift basis? He is used to kill penalties (about 3 minutes a night), which says he's a good competitor. As trade material, Girardi at 32 points would have more value than Gilbert at 36. Gilbert at 41 points would be worth quite a bit more than Girardi at 28. I'd probably take Gilbert.
