Default Tomas Kaberle

I am in a position where I might be able to acquire Kaberle. I haven't seen many Leafs games this season...how is he looking? Is Phaneuf's presence helping or hurting him? Do you guys see him having a big season?

He's doing the one single thing he hasn't done in a while - shoot the puck on the PP and just all the time. Remember he did for 4 for 4 in the shooting competition in the all-star game in 2008 (iirc). What this does is allow pressure off Kessel and Phaneuf (playing the other ends of the umbrella formation). Phaneuf also sometimes plants himself in front of the opposing net.

Kaberle's playing like he's rejuvenated. I'd expect around 50-55 if not more points (the more depends on the Leafs ability to crash the net along with potentially acquire a net presence). His production is still heavily limited by the players around him, as he's the chess master who can only do so much with so little. But he looks better then he has recently. I think he has a rather small amount of points (4) right now, but not for lack of trying. He's playing great. Him and Schenn are the two best defenceman right now by miles. Phaneuf hasn't found his swagger yet and Beauchemin has his good and bad moments.

Phaneuf hasn't hurt Kaberle this year (unlike last year). Kaberle is getting his oppurtunities and him shooting the puck is a great sign. He should do better then last year, but be weary, as he can play like he could put up 65, but is limited in the people who can actually score goals. I'd say 50 is a fair minimum expectation.
