I have never really understood the reasons involved in delays for players being placed on IR. I remember two seasons ago, I had to wait 2 months for Cloutier to be placed on IR...only to have it announced afterward that he needed surgery and would be out for the year.

So back to the issue, any word on when Williams make the move to IR?

A lot of teams make IR decisions based on available roster spots as well as length of injury. As long as the \'Canes don\'t need the roster spot (teams can carry 23 players I believe) they can procrastinate about putting a player on IR.

But with Cullen also getting hurt, there is a good chance Williams will go to IR soon.
