I can remember last year Sportsnet games on Center Ice were actually blacked out on the Ice channels. This year it\'s the other way around. When a game comes on pacific/west or ontario (I am in the East), they get blacked out and the only channels carrying it are the Ice channels via the sportsnet feed.
Something changed in between the two seasons and from what I have read online, the NHL (not the CRTC or Sportsnet) have decided to do blackouts on time shifting in an attempt to increase the # of subsicriptions to Center Ice. What confuses me about this though is that they dont hold CBC to the same standards on Saturday night. I can go to CBC-Ottawa and watch the Sens game and CBC-Montreal to watch the Habs games rather than being forced to watch the Leafs every Saturday. I wonder how they explained that to Sportsnet or how that contractually works. Does anyone here have any more info on this. It is interesting. Thanks
