Hi All,
I'm getting near the trade deadline for our league and have some decisions to make. At the start of the year It was fairly apparent to me that Price and Nabby would be my keepers, however with Montreal's struggles this year, and Rask coming into his own, i'm wondering if perhaps keeping Rask might be the better option for me going forward. We're only able to keep 2 goalies (1G and 1 any spot) through to next season, and with Nabby taking up one, I am trying to determine if I could potentially move one of these goalies to improve my keepers up front. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Rask. In 10 years, I think that Price will be the better goalie, but right now, he's not getting too many starts with Halak hogging up the net. For Rask, the only person who's blocking him is Thomas, and he's like 10 years older. Thomas will get moved soon, as his salary will be too big, adn the Bruins can't handle too big goalie salaries.

That's a tough one. Rask has really come into his own this year, but Price is definately a blue chipper.
My thought would be if you can get good value in a trade for Price, do it, because Rask is a great fall back, but won't demand as much on the trade front. If it's just a matter of establishing your keepers, wait as long as you can to make the decision because Montreal could make a big move after the season and deal one of Halak or Price which would clear up the goalie picture there. Rask in my opinion (and I'm very high on him), will split time next year still unless the Bruins can find someone to take Thomas's big salary. Thomas's #'s have been decent this year, it's just the Bruins have not been great...

So say for the next 3-5 years it may be more prudent to hold onto Rask vs. Price? or at least see if i can shop price?

Quite honestly I dont see Price reaching his potential in Montreal. He needs to be moved.
Thus id try shopping him. |

I'm facing that same dilemma in my league, but instead of Nabokov, I've got Fleury as my other goalie. Keeping Fleury and Price the last couple years has really hurt my goaltending stats. But I haven't seriously thought about keeping Rask over Price yet... although I'm sure this thread will help get that process going now. lol
The way I see it... we've got until the trade deadline to make a decision on trading one of them (although my league does allow off-season trades too, which is another option if I want to delay my decision). |

Here are my thoughts. I would let it be known to the owners in the league that you'd be willing to move one of Price/Rask if the right package came along. I would think shopping Price would get you a better return, but you never know. You're right to keep Nabby, and deal one of Price/Rask. You may want to consider putting one of them into a package with another player to upgrade one of you're keeper spots.
I too think Price will be the better goalie in five years, but not by a ton. I've always liked Rask (and I hated it that the Leafs had him, so I was glad he got dealt), and I think he might be better for the next two, but then fall behind a little. Either way, I don't think you lose with whichever you have left over.

Thanks guys,
I'm starting to polish off the ole packaging shoes and try and work out a deal to improve my core keepers a bit. I'll probably try and grab either a LW or try and package to possibly even move on a lowered value high end goalie (ward? :P) for next year! What do you guys suppose someone like Price+ or Rask+ is worth these days? 60-70 pt forward?
