Default Please help my team\'s downward spiral

So far this season my team was decemated with injuries and healthy scratches and I\'m hovering below a playoff spot. Any help anyone could provide would be appreciated, as any move I\'ve been making has backfired. It is a standard Yahoo Pool with 10 teams.

I was thinking about dropping Nagy, here are the available LW\'s I can replace him with (the ones worth having anyways):
Kunitz
Sturm
Wolski
Bell
Perron

I\'ve also got the whole issue with Osgood/Hasek, is it safe to drop Osgood yet? And then the whole Budaj thing, whatta mess that is. Here are the available goaltenders, do you think any are worth a move?
Price
Garon
Bryzgalov
Harding
Theodore

Thanks in advance!

Well let\'s start with Osgood - you can\'t drop him - Hasek is a tweak away from Osgood winning another 8 or 9 in a row.

So the only way I see you shaping up in goal is to replace Budaj or simply drop him and run with what you have - can you get enough games in with Hasek, Osgood and Legace - if so then that will allow you a little more depth at skaters. As far as picking up a replacement for Budaj who will get lots of games - that will be Bryz - but I think Price will get 1/3 starts in Montreal and if that is sufficient then he will get you pretty good numbers.

Kunitz is the best option over Nagy - tends to be multicategory. - Not sure what there is out there for centers but dumping Budaj outright and taking Kunitz and dumping Nagy and moving Prospal to left and grabbing a good center might help alot.

There is another option and that is streaming players into your lineup as you need them through 1 position. That comes down to pretty intensive management with nearly daily pickups and drops. Not always the most popular practice with other GM\'s but certainly allowable under the rules unless your league prohibits it.

Because it is H2H you might consider dropping down to 3 D guys and picking up yet another forward who you can get into games. Kinda depends if you can benefit from extra forwards over D guys - just make sure that you spread your guys across several divisions so you don\'t get too many game conflicts.

Spezza, Gabbie and McCabe are going to pick up some of the slack for you right now and Gionta is finally finding the scoresheet so I don\'t think things are so bad for you.

Good luck with this team - and have fun.

It\'s safe to drop Osgood, and take a flyer on Bryzgalov. He won\'t pile up the W\'s, but the SV% will do great. Price might also be a decent investment instead of Budaj. If Huet ever goes down, Price will be gold. Besides, with Legace, Hasek and Bryzgalov, you can afford to sit Price. The Habs always announce their starters in advance, so you can activate him sporadically.

Nagy for Kunitz might be a good move, although Nagy is streaky and he could make you regret it. You gotta do something, so may as well take the chance.

Just noticed that Shoeless answered at the same time - and the answers contradicted each other.

He is correct and it would be a sound move if you were near the top. However, since you are trying to get into the playoffs, you need to take some risks. So that\'s why I say don\'t wait on Hasek to go down, just go with Bryzgalov and wait on Price. I\'d rather have Price on my bench than Osgood.
That being said...
It looks as if you have a lot invested in goaltending. If you only activate two goalies at a time, you really don\'t need more than three. The extra spot could be and should be used for a skater. Hasek, Legace and Bryzgalov is a good 1-2-3 to go with.

Thanks for the help guys! I\'ve dropped Osgood for Bryz and I\'m debating on my next move. Our pool does have a restriction of 25 moves over the season and I am up to 7 right now.

I was thinking about what Shoeless said about moving Prospal to the LW and picking up a C (Arnott, Lang and Gomez are the best available). I was thinking of replacing Budaj with any of these C\'s or Kunitz and then dropping Nagy when Straka comes off of the IR. Does this seem like a good move?

Thanks again for your help guys!

hey man,

looking at your team, you really DO have hope for the near and longer-term future for this season. Gomez was mentioned, and I\'d definitely consider adding him while his line keeps clicking with those Rangers. And as for the goalies - even if you don\'t win the 1 category of wins, a goalie who\'ll help your avg/g\'s against will serve you more often positively.
Bryz has great hype now, but a guy like Harding is a sneaky good play for (almost sure) 1 start a week with a defensively minded team like the wild in front of him.

Otherwise, don\'t panic too hard at this point, with the guys you have it\'s not a MAJOR overhaul, 1 or two moves should be enough to bump you up a few spots quickly in my opinion...
