We had our draft last night and I ended up with the dreaded first pick. I say dreaded because by the time the time you get to pick again, your pre draft strategy that you were able to start with, has now likely been shot full of holes because everyone else has a similar strategy.
I wanted to load up on BUF and VAN players. I picked Briere first and by the time the picks got back to me, the top 7 scorers in BUF were gone, two from VAN were gone and none from NSH were gone so I had to change my strategy from VAN to NSH and that started a string of me picking 6 NSH guys in a row. It didn\'t stop there. I ended up picking up Kotalik and Spacek in the 8th and 9th rounds and then went on to pick up 3 more NSH guys and Christiensen. I was able to steal Sullivan in the last round but I\'m screwed if NSH gets bounced in the first round. This brings me to my comment about strategy. Once I had the top 6 guys from NSH, I should have stopped picking them because if NSH makes it far, I\'ll win the pool hands down whether I have 6 or 9 NSH players on a 13 man team. I realize now I should have stopped picking them and moved on to another team and loaded up at that point to at least hedge my bets a little. Now I\'m riding NSH or bust. I was excited about the OTT/PIT series that starts tonight but now I\'ll be forced to watch the NSH game. |

Don\'t worry, the Nashville - San Jose game is going to be some great hockey, you won\'t be suffering for watching that series.
