Default Kane for Backstrom?

I was offered Nicklas Backstrom straight up for my Patrick Kane. League/scoring details listed below:

Limited Keeper (keep 1 C, 1 RW, 1 LW, 2 D, 1 G)
Start 2 C, 2 LW, 2 RW, 4 D, 1 UTIL, 2 G
Scoring: G, A, P, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, W, SV%, GAA, SHO

My lineup is currently:

C: Kopitar, Oshie, Krejci, Spezza (IR)
LW: Parise, Morrow, Penner, JVR
RW: P. Kane, Kessel, Giroux
D: Doughty, Phaneuf, Kaberle, Kronwall (IR), Carkner
G: Miller, Hiller, Rask

I'm currently in 1st place, but not by much. The way I see it, my keepers are obviously Kopitar, Parise, Kane, Doughty, Phaneuf, Miller. If I trade Kane and acquire another C in Backstrom, A) I'll be short at RW and consequently my keeper at that position will suffer drastically, and B) I won't be able to keep both Kopitar and Backstrom anyway, so I'd have to trade one (possibly for an upgrade at RW?). Plus, I don't need a fifth C. So, I don't think I can make this trade... as much as I'd prefer Backstrom to either Kopitar or Kane. What do you guys make of this? Thanks in advance for any advice.

G: Lundqvist, S. Mason, Ellis

Your analysis is right on here. I would pass on this offer.

Yeah I'd rather have Backstrom than Kane too, but your RW's would really suffer.

Anyone think I should accept this offer and then deal Kopitar for a top RW? Maybe someone along the lines of Perry, Iginla, St. Louis, Semin? Thanks for the replies.

Dunno if you can get a Perry or Iggy for Kopitar right now, his stock has fallen a bit and gone from super stud to great player on an upcoming LA team. I wouldn't trade Kopitar for St.Louis or Semin, the first is too old, the second to brittle. You still have Kessel at RW who is no slouch.

I'd definitively try to deal Kopitar for an additional RW though (Perry, Iggy, Hossa, maybe Gaborik) and only then I'd make the Backstrom/Kane swap.

Well you know the situations of the other teams in your leagues better than I do but Kopitar isn't worth any of the guys you listed.

I actually think you can do the deal and then keep Kessel. After Burke gave up a king's ransomfor Kessel, damn sure better build his offence around him in the years to come. Any moves he makes will be made to compliment Kessel.

As it stands now you have to start a weak 2nd C. So doing a deal would mean starting a weak 2nd RW instead.

Your left wing is quite strong and that's typically a shallow position in most pools. Maybe you could move one for a better RW.

The only way you can do this deal, is if you have another in place that would have you dealing away Kopitar for another stud RW. Until you have a deal in place, stand pat.
