Default Is Doan a buy low or a don'y buy at all?

Doan has 17 pts in 27 games and on pace for 52 pts. I don't see him only getting to 51 points. Is he a buy low? I know he is in a more defensive system but I still see 60-65 points out of him. What do yo think?

I've got Doan on my team... I think that's a fair call as 60-65 seems reasonable to me. He'll fall short of previous numbers (70+) due to the more team's more defensive style, but like many power or psuedo-power wingers, he'll have stronger stats as the season wears on.

I'm guessing some time in December, there will be an uptick in Doan's production. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but similar players like Morrow and Backes are showing that gradual warming trend right about now.

So to finally answer your question, yes, I think Doan is a "buy low" player.

Upshall is finally showing some of his potential. Correct me if I am wrong but I think Doan was playing on the third line for a few games. Tonight the first line consisted of Doan, Lombardi and Upshall and seemed to click.

definitely a buy-low candidate I mentioned him in my article this week. Him LOmbardi and Upshall had a great game last night and if they can keep up that chemistry could be in for a big 2nd half of this season.

Some stats to consider: Doan scored half of his 72pts last year before Jan 1st (after 38 games). Phoenix was also in a playoff position at this time, just like this year, and then tailed off miserably. I also see them falling off in the 2nd half this year as well in the highly competitive West... they just don't have the talent.
If I were a Doan owner I might try to off-load him for a decent return to a owner who has been hearing a lot of "buy-low" hype. I would only buy if I truly would get him for a low price. In my pool, bigger names like Doan can never be bought low when struggling, as owners see no point in selling low on a guy who has the potential to pick it up a bit in the 2nd half.
