I am the Gerber owner, and at first I thought this was a no-brainier, but with New Jersey floundering after a brief showing of success and Gerber making his third straight start for the Seanators, I\'m not too sure. I know the Devils will probably get better and Gerber isnt even guaranteed the starts, but you can\'t argue with the numbers so far. I\'m leaning towards yes, but anyone want to help me out?

i say yes, brodeur is still brodeur, keep in mind NJ is still in their transition stage, they have a new coach although it seems like they do every season, but sutter brings a whole new system so the team needs to buy into and be good on both ends and i see them doing that cuz sutter has the ability to get the best out of his players and that will include brodeur as well.

i think that gerber is getting a lot more starts because OTT wants to get his stock up to see if any other team wants to get him off their hands for he is an expensive backup.

i say definitely take the trade and you\'ll be smiling by the time the seasons over

You think this is vetoable? One guy in my league said this would be vetoed for sure, but I don\'t agree. Also, since we\'re on New Jersey, Gionta: worth using a 4th waiver pick on?

If Gerber was guaranteed to stay in net all season I would say no for this season at this point. Problem is, there\'s a dude named Emery who brought them to a cup final waiting to take over.

I agree they\'re trying to find suitors at the moment.
Where can he go? LA? Gerber\'s stock stays fairly decent there. Phoenix? Tampa?

Fact is that Weeks may be better than Clemmonson or Ahonen, but Brodeur will start 65 or many more games. Guaranteed if he\'s healthy. It\'s too good to mess with, take Brodeur now while Gerber is still worth it, because in a month you may be sitting there saying, shit I could have had a few more points had I stayed with Gerber or you could be sitting there saying, shit I wish I had picked up Brodeur because Emery just started his tenth game in a row.

Anyone have any insider knowledge on when Emery returns? If they don\'t trade Gerber does Emery automatically become No. 1 again eventually? New coach is showing no signs of this, but I can grab Emery and it\'s tempting me... although I would need to give up Fleury for him so not that tempting...

Edit - my advice assumes you get points for SOG as well as wins.

also, I am already 30 points ahead in my 12 team roto league, ive never had a lead like this, or been in a league with it, so part of my caution is not to mess with whats working, but I think I will make the move.

vetoes should only occur if theres collusion and it doesn\'t seem like that is the case. i don\'t see y people would veto it. the way the numbers are right now, gerber is playing better than brodeur and the situation in OTT is \"unknown\" although we really know emery is going to be the #1 since hes signed to a long term contract.

and who else is available in your FA? if theres other players around that level i would not use it on gionta, his good year 2 years ago has raised everyones standards of him.

You already have Lundqvist as your stud, Brodeur will be a great addition.
If I were you I would be worried about Gerber, because Osgood is questionable when Hasek is healthy, so at least you will have 3 guaranteed starters on your roster for the rest of the season.

I think this also might give me some more leverage around the end of the season as far as keepers go. I already have 6 sure keepers with Thornton, St. Louis, Lundqvist, Kopitar, Tanguay, Staal and we can only keep 4, so I could have a possible 3 to deal off for picks or upgrades.

Would you pull a Fleury for Emery trade at the moment? Asumming that your goaltender position is already strong?
