Default Time to act before it\'s too late?

16 team H2H League
G,A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG, W, GAA, SV %, SO
(Start 2 C, 2 LW, 2 RW, 8 D, 5 Util, 1 G)

This team is floundering near the bottom of the standings, and since only 6 teams make the playoffs, I don\'t want to get too far out of striking range before a quarter of the season has been played. Goaltending has been spotty, but I can be patient there since Kipper has had a slow start and Toskala has been awful. Who would you suggest trying to unload now as a sell-high/overvalued player in a trade to improve this team? Thanks

You\'re right to be patient, Kipper will be fine. Eight starting defensemen!? Wow, luckily you are stacked at defense.

The down side is you need better C and RW. Chad Larose?

You may have to trade one of your defensemen (Bouwmeester - it is a one year league afterall). Maybe package a centre and Bouwmeester for a decent centre once Berard is back? I also think Kesler is overachieving (but only slightly), if there are any Canuck fans in the pool, you might be able to parlay him into something better.

Savard and Koivu are disappointing so far this year, but Savard is money in the bank, be patient with him.

Im trying to move Ranger as well, since Boyle will be back. Another rough game for Kipper-albeit the Red Wings are tough for anyone

I\'m guessing because they start 8D? I\'ve never heard of that many defensemen starting, but if that is the case, stacking your defence is probably the best strategy.

johneast - Ranger is an interesting play. Only one of his nine points have been on the PP. Boyle\'s return shouldn\'t hurt his production too much. I\'ve read that it will cut into his ice time. I\'ve also read that Ranger partners with Boyle, so the ice time he will lose is likely PP time. Good thing he\'s scoring at even strength - Boyle could actually help his production. It\'s a theory anyway, not sure it will happen. Coach loves Ranger, that doesn\'t hurt. FYI.

Good points about Ranger. I\'m unsure who to move since Whitney and Bouwmeester havent been great and I dont want to sell them off too cheaply. However, after another bad week from my goalies so far, Im set for a heavy defeat, so its starting to get desperate since I will be rock bottom and way behind the playoff spots. So, who would you deal?

Because it\'s a one year league, I think if you can find someone who mixes up Bouwmeester\'s fantasy worth versus his real value, you should trade him. I don\'t mean give him away. There should be someone out there who is drooling at the thought that he\'s ready to explode points wise. I would point out his great balanced numbers last year, where he had a very nice +/- and decent penalty minutes (I\'m going by memory here, so cut me some slack if I\'m a little off on the stats).

After all I\'ve said about Ranger, you might be able to sell high on him. He\'s not a point a game player, no matter what. I don\'t even think I predicted him for 40 points coming into the season.

I\'m not fond of Hedican and Berard, well he\'s hit and miss with the injury issues and potential for +/- havoc.

Larose should be safe to drop. Try a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 deal and drop Larose? As defensemen are extra valuable in this pool (only 6 fwds and 8 def?), you should be able to snag a decent D-man offering Bouwmeester/Ranger for a better D-man. It\'s probably not enough for Lidstrom or Pronger, but who knows what people are thinking. Gonchar should be good as well. I don\'t think I would trade Bouwmeester without getting a defenseman in return, it would leave you a little thin on D.

I know I said try a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 earlier, but also try to get the other guy to \"throw in\" his dropped player. That way you have the option of keeping him or Larose. You never know what you\'ll get.

If you have some specific trade ideas in mind, let me know. Good luck.
