There's a new guy in our league, he's taken over a team for another GM and he's in rebuild mode... according to himself. He made two trades today, one of them with me.

First one:

He gives Nash, Rask, Myers and a 3rd round entry draft pick for Gagner, MSP, David Jones, Tokarski and a 1st round entry draft pick. Horrible trade in my eyes. I don't see how he's getting younger with that one, as he says is his aim.

Second trade, with me:

I give him Huselius, Ferraro and a 3rd rounder (I got Ferraro this summer with a 3rd) to get Hiller. I get an empty spot that I can fill with a number of exciting prospects (Kugryshev for example), or some middle of the road guy like Torres to kinda, sorta replace Huselius.

Normally you have to pay through your nose in our league to even get a sniff at a worthwhile goalie. I had Bryz, Varly and Elliott/Conklin, so I really wanted to add another pretty solid guy. Ferraro seems sooooo damn far away anyway, so losing him feels completely irrelevant now. Huselius has started off pretty strong statswise, but the Blue Jackets fans seem to think that he's not pulling his weight in every other area of the game. That's a read flag for me.

I also dumped Kobasew to pick up Fiddler the other day. I was surprised by Fiddler's numbers but I'll take them over the short term.

I might try to move Plekanec to my league's resident Hab fan to rebuild my left wing, but we'll see. I also sent out an offer for David Moss where I give Kris Russell. Might be slight overpayment but Russell isn't worth a lot right now in my eyes, plus he's the most expendable dman on my roster. Moss seems like a pretty nice completementary guy. We'll see what the other GM says.

In the meantime, this new GM will probably continue to make more ... interesting moves. What do you guys think?

I like this move a lot for you, obviously. Best player you gave up was Huselius, as we all know can be pretty good, but he's pretty damn inconsistent. But you solidify your goaltending as it's becoming obvious that Hiller is the clear #1 in Anaheim, even before Giggy's injury.

Plus, I love the idea of being able to add a Kugryshev. I'm a big fan of his who might not make an impact next year but is still clearly ahead and has more upside than Ferraro.
