Who has the better chance of becoming a #1 this year? Or at least playing more often for a longer period of time?(and doing well?)
I know that Ellis was absolutely putrid tonight, but I dont want to get rid of him if the consensus is that he will have more starts and be a better selection long term. I am looking to get a little distance out of my #4 goalie, so I dont want to just pick up the flavor of the month? Who should legitimately be a better goalie long term this year? Thanks to all responses. This is very important for me to sure up my goaltending. |

Definitely Ellis. He's been there before and has shown he can do it in the #1 spot. Niemi is a rookie. If it were a keeper, I might think differently but in the one year format definitely go with Ellis.

I don't think that Niemi will be #1 unless mr. high paid Huet bombs it even worse than he already has. He wasn't all that bad at the tail of last year, i think he's started on a slump.

Neither will be #1, but for playing time, it's easier to project Ellis in the 30-40 game range and a 1B status. Whereas I think 30 games would be an amazing feat for Niemi. If we're talking about quality starts, Niemi looks like a better option than Ellis.
