I am on pace to exceed 82 games by 4 for my Util position.

Cogliano is my Util right now and the Oil are slated to play, a no doubt peeved-off Wild (thanks to my Flames) tonight.

I was thinking of sitting him to save a game, or is it too early in the season to worry about games played just yet?

I don\'t think it is too early to manage your max games. Where there are match-ups you don\'t like I think it is in your best interest to save those games for better match-ups.

Constantly in the leagues that I play in - guys are fighting everyday to stay in or gain the lead and I watch their game utilization go up and the actual contribution per game played slide down.

There will be a day when you have hot players that you want to slot in to that utility spot and it would be nice to have the games to do so.

I\'ve seen other guys dumping and picking up players like there\'s no tomorrow. Hope they know (or not)there is a max.

I have Kane, Elias and Gionta on the bench today. Sometimes you are going to leave some points on the bench and shed a little tear for missing them - but generally at the end of the day - making sure to play your best players in your best match-ups will work in your favor. Don\'t be afraid to ride back in the pack somewhere because guys are throwing everything on the ice and picking up points on you. Playing Crosby 82 games is preferable to playing Crosby 75 games and Brad Richards 7 games - as you start to calculate the games you have in hand it will become apparent you are gaining an advantage.

Never too early to do this and totally understandable. Guys here (mainly Shoeless) convinced me to do it more often and I starting to develop an addiction to this. Based on a discussion we had yesterday, I benched Vanek and I was happy when I saw the score.

Hey Chicleteur,

This early, I see it as banking games for injured starters. You accumulate games and when an injury hits, you ween off your overplayed games while keeping a static roster. It will come back down... just so long you keep swapping players and developing a bad habit It\'s so tempting though!
