Since I don\'t have a digital cable box I am contemplating getting the internet package as well. I\'ve been taking advantage of the free preview and it has been fantastic. Quality is a bit worse than TV, but I am able to watch four games at once and choose between them easily to full screen.
last season the centre ice tv package started \"multi-view\".
6 games at once on split-screen. it was okay, but a tad slow to load when you select full screen. i really just preferred to channel hop; it wasn\'t too bad at all, plus i\'d rather watch the hd games any day of the week. :silly:

After watching Edmonton - Minnesota last night maybe I\'m glad I don\'t have a subscription to almost every game!

The specs of your ISP connection and equipment have a major effect on performance. The amopunt of traffic using the bandwidth matters too.

I\'ve subscribed to the Center Ice Online because my cable provider decided not to offer the InDemand packages when they bought out my original provider (thanks for the heads up on that, Suddenlink). I have a nice beefy PC hooked up to my HD TV and my internet feed is cable (just upped to 8M/s, shiny).

After two weeks, I\'ve found the system pretty annoying. Here is my take:

1. Yes, you can watch 4 games at once, but you can\'t set the screen to only show the 4 games. So you\'re stuck with pretty tiny games and 60-70% of the screen real estate wasted to the rest of their interface.

2. You can put one game in the same viewing area as 4 and get a decent game, but it\'s still a ton of wasted space. There really needs to be a way to minimize all that other crap without having to go full screen.

3. Full screen is reported to require even more bandwidth. While it\'s not a problem in my case, the picture deteriorates pretty bad at this level. Even with a $600 video card, it\'s sometimes impossible to sort out. The most obvious issues are when the feed flashes the advertising bugs, trivial game notes or modifies the image to run a scrawl at the bottom. These were annoying over HD, but having them destroy 10 seconds of the game while the screen tries to compensate is bad.

4. Busy nights seem to make for worse response. Those nights when you have 12 games to choose from, you can expect some serious latency issues. I\'ve had my frames per second drop from 30 to 0, stall for 15 seconds, then burst in \"fast forward\" or just skip back to \"real time\". The FAQ says this is due to my provider, however I was able to pull a P2P broadcast over SOPCast that worked 99% better. I really believe there are still limitations at the NeuLion distribution point.

5. Only viewable from one system at a time. I admit, I\'m a wired guy with TVs and computers scattered throughout my apartment. So it\'s frustrating that my login only works on one system at a time. I can\'t pull the game up in two different rooms and keep an eye on the game while I work on other things.

6. The interface says Beta and it acts like it. If you\'re going to soak me for $150 (I got in on the Early Bird), at least don\'t rub it in that you\'re doing it on a platform that\'s clearly not ready for prime time. Even half off for buying the regular Center Ice package is too much money for this service.

7. I miss the ability to record a game. During preseason I noticed a spot to watch previous games, but during the season the archive games so far all have No Feed. And they don\'t all seem to be archived. So far it looks like I\'m out of luck if I can\'t watch a game live.

8. The \"bonus extras\" are marginal at best. So far it\'s:
Player Profiles - decent mix of players at least, but the same fluff interviews we see during pre-game and intermission.
Games - Classic Games (empty) and Current Games (2 part NHL season preview from 10/4/07)
PPV - 8 or 9 Sidney Crosby interviews and the NHL commercials you should be sick of by now, all free.
Top Videos - Unless you need to see more Crosby, the best thing here is the 60-90 second highlight clip from last night\'s games. I assume this is what they ship off to ESPN that gets pared down to 15 seconds for SportsCenter.
Archives - Curiously, it\'s the same crap as PPV.
Game Highlights - empty
Fantasy - Yep, I can pick my fantasy players (by first name?!) and it will show me their stats. Decent, but it certainly isn\'t the greatest feature.

Overall, I\'m not impressed. Since I didn\'t have the option to do my regular Center Ice package or switch to a satellite provider that offered it, I took the \"best\" option available. I may start blogging about my nightly experiences, mostly so I have something to look back at later for a true impression rather than 9 months of beer-soaked memories to rely on before I try this again.

As it sits right now, I\'ll make sure I have other options next year before I\'ll rely on this service.

Anyone know of anyplace else you can put in your fantasy players and get up to the second/minute stats for them for the current day/night?

Thanks!
