Hey guys,

Do you think it would be smart to trade away Brad Boyes and Cam Barker for Paul Stastny, Alex Tanguay, and John-Michael Liles?

If I do the trade I would have to drop somebody, but then I would most likely drop Liles for Gilbert.

Any advice would help. 1 year league, full team in my signature.

You would be super short on your RW and you would then have too many centers. The plus side is that you would be much better on your +/-. I would say no. Too many centers and Tanguay is not going to break into your LW rotation and you would be down-grading your d

Thank you for your reply, BUT I forgot to mention that my league uses 2 utility positions

Just taking a quick look at how I see the season playing out for these guys,

Stastny - 30G, 35A, -10, 30 PIM, 5 GW
Tanguay - 30G, 40A, -10, 45 PIM, 5 GW
JML - 5G, 20A, -15, 80 PIM, 1 GW

Boyes - 40G, 30A, -5, 25 PIM, 10 GW
Barker - 10G, 40A, +5, 75 PIM, 2 GW

That means to make up the difference between the two sets of players, you would need a player who could give you 15G, 25A, and 55 PIM. You win the +/- battle by 30 and have an extra GWG before you add anyone. JML had a terrible year last year and Stastny is coming back from a pretty significant injury on one side of the trade and Boyes is being reunited with the line that tore up the first couple weeks of the season last year and has had a great pre-season to date. I don't think that you can make the trade. That's my two cents.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I'll do it any more because I think my team is solid as it is. The key guy I wanted was Stastny because I think he could get a ton of points this year but who knows.
