Default Looking for A SOLID KEEPER LEAGUE...

I am the Commish of a 3rd year Keeper League and am Looking for One or TWO more.(If I win hands down again this year I will trade both of my Big 3)

I compete in a number of pools in many formats but want to scale back and compete in a few difficult keepers. I would like to get my butt kicked really, cuz I am affraid of getting soft with my current levels of competition and well built team.

Last Year:
-1st in 6 of 9 pools

-2nd in reg season for my money pool where the winner, according to picking out of a hat, got 2nd pick for skaters (foward and D-men) and 1st pick for goalies, in a serpentine draft of 16 teams (I picked 7th and 9th)

-1st in the playoff pool with the same group, 25-player Points-only pick-em format

-3rd play-offs, 1st reg season, in a head-to-head format that was suppose to be keeper and fell apart because the commish got lazy (and quit when he dropped to 8th)

9 was almost too much to manage with family and work commitments and would like to scale back to 2-3 keepers including the one I Commish. Not really looking for money leagues because I am untrusting until I get to know people, and there is a fool proof system of payment. The money league I am in is my Dad's client's who all make more than me, and too cocky needed an education from a young buck like me (although time is changing that quickly whether I like it or not).

I like Yahoo! format, but do not object to others so long as the registration is free.
I am active during the season and always try to make deals whether other GMs like them or not. I know they are subjective.

If you think I fit the bill for your league, or fantasy hockey community reply with some details. I prefer leagues with history and don't care if the team I take over is garbage so long as the league is SOLID.

Man this comes off like a personals ad (please no one cut and paste this on Lava-life or anything).

Default I have an opening in a 2nd year keeper league

Sovereign,

I have an opening in a 2nd year H2H keeper league ..... however the teams are $150 each. I read what you said about keeper leagues, but I assure you I am reputable and trustworthy. I have been running fantasy leagues for nearly 20 years and have always paid prize money ... no questions asked.

The team I have available has a potentially solid group of keepers, but really needs a good owner to take care of it.

The league is a good one with several really good owners, including 2 that I found last season in the Dobber forums.

We plan on starting the draft early next week, so I need someone ASAP

If your interested at all let me know by emailing me at Garthzilla@aol.com and I can provide you with more details.

Dean

Default Thanks but no thanks

Incredible that it took 61/2 hours for a reply.

Sorry, but giving away $150 to someone I don't know and have no history with isn't going to happen. I would join and absolve my self of the winnings if I managed it, but would not do this off-the-cuff.

That is probably a non-starter for you, but that is all I can state. Find someone else if you can, otherwise, I will maybe join on those terms to make the league work provided it has rules I like. EG - not using every possible statistic available as a scoing category.

Already putting money where my mouth is in other leagues, I am looking for entertainment more than anything now, with a committed group. However, after a trust is established it is possible. Money almost always guarentees committment. I have seen pools that use $2k as entry feeds, with everyone getting something in the end, although last place never ever sees anything close to $2K back.

If still required, let me know the details.

Anyone else reading this. I am still looking for good regular competition.

hey sovereign. i just made a new post. I had a GM recently decide he wanted to drop out... you can see my post here:

Challenging Keeper needs replacement GM

please contact me with any questions. Entry fee is just 30 bucks... part of it pays for the league costs, and the rest is distributed to the winners. It's all outlined in the rules document that i mention in my post.

- i can postpone the entry fee to later on in the season this year if the money/trust thing is a big issue with you...

- i really would hope that you'd be able to cut back the number of leagues you're in, keeping it to a few and this one... i find that guys who are in more than 3 leagues tend to get lost in this one. It's certainly not for the casual participant...

- It's a majority keeper (17 of 23 players can be kept each year) salary cap league which offers another dynamic many leagues don't have... the cap really makes you think a bit more about what players will serve your team the best. There's a whole different strategy involved that makes it fairly unique to all the cookie cutter leagues out there.

The team that you'd be taking over is far from being bad... but the guy missed our recent roster filling draft and ended up getting stuck with a bunch of average but expensive players on his bench (that you'd have the task of cleaning up in order to bring the team back under the cap in a timely fashion). Right now he's way over the cap, but his keepers are very solid. Among them: jokinen, lecav, stamkos, gonchar, perry, eriksson, setoguchi, voracek, dan boyle, kipper, chris mason, giguere, mike smith, and cory schneider.

Anyways... check out the above linked thread for more info... or pm me and i'll send you our rules document for this year.
